I bought my car at Dolan’s and have always had it serviced there. It is now 15 years old and has yet to cause me a problem between maintenance appts, except for once needing a new battery. My son and I recently visited Dolan Reno Toyota to help him purchase his first car. We had a positive experience with the salesperson, but unfortunately, that changed when we were transferred to the finan him purchase his first car. Despite having a pre-approved loan from his personal bank and a significant down payment prepared, the finance department heavily pressured us to use their financing options. While we appreciate their efforts, we had already secured a favorable rate with our bank. Further frustration arose when we discovered the dealership's limit on debit card transactions. Since our down payment exceeded that limit, we needed to wait for the bank to open on Monday to adjust the loan amount. The entire paperwork process took an unreasonable amount of time, and it felt like a tactic to pressure us into their financing. Despite declining their offers, we remained courteous and persistent in using our pre-approved loan. On Monday, when contacting the finance department to request additional paperwork, we encountered a particularly unhelpful individual named Steve Umpress. Despite our request to have the paperwork emailed for efficiency, Steve insisted my son come to the dealership in person. This unnecessary inconvenience cost my son valuable time. Even when my son arrived, Steve Umpress showed a complete lack of customer service. He refused a simple request to scan the paperwork for faster transmission to the bank, stating "'Just bring me the money and you can get the car.'" The entire experience left us feeling disrespected and frustrated. We understand dealerships aim to offer financing options, but this experience went beyond that. We were prepared to pay the full asking price for the car and had secured our own financing. The pressure tactics and Steve Umpress's behavior in the finance department left a very negative impression. This experience does not reflect well on Dolan Reno Toyota, and we hope this review prompts an evaluation of their finance department's practices to ensure a smoother experience for future customers.
