I took my 95 ford explorer in for a check on 11/19/13 due to a flashing OD light. The service manager called and left a message for me to call back, fearing the worst (this vehicle is on its third transm due to a flashing OD light. The service manager called and left a message for me to call back, fearing the worst (this vehicle is on its third transmission) I called back to be informed that the vehicle threw a code for "excessive converter slip." I asked what was done to check the vehicle out and was told that they reset the code and drove it for twenty five miles with no problems and if it throws the same code I will need a new transmission. These folks could not even drop the pan to check the transmission out or see if there was crud on the screen or bottom of the pan. As I walk out the door with $99 less in my wallet with no more information than when I dropped it off I was a little hot, I expected a little more since it was a transmission issue. I truly wonder if the so called "service tech's" can diagnose problems any more without the computer telling them what is wrong with the vehicle. I will do Doherty a favor and send folks who own Doges their way, this quality of service deserves that quality of vehicle. I will no longer go to these folks for even parts. More
-my truck will not start,so i towed it in $99.00 diagnose -told me it was the battery,so they replaced it.$130.00 -went to pick up my truck,and will not start. -they re checked it,and now i got a bad iner -told me it was the battery,so they replaced it.$130.00 -went to pick up my truck,and will not start. -they re checked it,and now i got a bad inertia switch.$89.00 -so they replaced it. -went to pick up truck,and still won't start. -so they check it yet again, -and now i got a bad fuel pump,$750.00 -so finally that did it. -at this point, my truck has been in the shop for 2 weeks. -and this people were never apologetic.about any thing. -it was the worst experience, -can anyone top that.? Well i did not get it there until 1pm!. I gave the particulars to Jeff at the desk on what it was doing (or not doing). I said i would wait a couple of hours before i had to get a rental. 11/2hrs. later Jeff told me it was a bad battery, everything else checked out good. They replaced the battery at NC (car was still under warranty) and i was good to go. Great experience!!!. I will definitely return to Doherty Ford. They went out of their way to get me in and out, in time. Good job Doherty!!!. Noel More
