48170carbuyer In response to your review of our dealership, Dick Scott Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, let me begin by addressing your concerns. With regard to documentation fees or “Doc fees,” these are, in fact, $200 here in Michigan for a non-Chrysler Employee purchase or lease of a new Chrysler product, otherwise they are $75. The documentation fees associated with the purchase of a new automobile cover the cost of processing the paperwork associated with the purchase. These fees vary from state to state, as indicated on a state’s Department of Motor Vehicles website. To further address that another dealer’s fees may be less does not single out Dick Scott as charging the fees of $200 as a standalone. I submit that a pool of more than 2 additional dealerships will reveal a truer number of stores charging the same fees for these services. Had this been brought to our attention while you were looking at the vehicle, we would have gladly explained and addressed your concerns at that time. It is not uncommon for a dealership to experience theft or vandalism and even here in Plymouth we have experienced both at the dealership. That is why we use window etching and wheel locks to best deter would- be thieves. This, of course, is why these products are on the entire inventory. In addition, they are clearly listed on each vehicle's window sticker as additional dealer-installed accessories or options and presented to customers at the time of sale. These products are optional for purchase in order to receive the benefit from the product. If a customer chooses not to take advantage of them, we remove the fees associated with it. With regard to pricing, the Affiliated Rewards and Pricing programs are a great benefit to anyone that qualifies. The prices are listed on each individual invoice which corresponds to an individual car itself. Unlike Ford or General Motors who monitor and run a strict pricing program that requires compliance, Chrysler allows for some room to negotiate at the discretion of both parties involved. This would explain any price difference you found. Again in regards to pricing, by charging the appropriate amount for the Friends and Family plan does not make us a standalone in the market. Purchasing a car can be quite taxing for some, and there is always room for misunderstanding and miscommunication that can result in a potential buyer feeling uninformed. Receiving pricing from multiple stores can lead to price changes and variations in a retail environment known for bartering and negotiating. At Dick Scott, our fees are the same for ALL of our customers. We place window etching and wheel locks on our entire inventory and offer them to ALL of our customers. We adhere to the pricing program for ALL our customers. This way we can maintain fairness with all of our customers in the manner we conduct business. Dick Scott would like to convey that your concerns are important to us and we appreciate you voicing them so that we may look into our daily business practices for better ways to serve our customers and the community.
