It was a pleasure working with Grover Betts to find the right vehicle for me. We struck gold on the second vehicle, a 2020 Ford Ranger XLT. I love the truck and, better yet, my wife loves the truck! **For the dealership in Gladstone, OR** Anyone that typically needs to come to the "Dick Says Yes" lot has unique circumstances and crappy situation, I am no different. From the moment you walk in, the typically needs to come to the "Dick Says Yes" lot has unique circumstances and crappy situation, I am no different. From the moment you walk in, the whole mood is off. The waiting room is lackluster and no attention is put into it. Definitely lesser quality and attention than a "normal" waiting room or the waiting room at the Nissan lot across the parking lot. The initial stream of texting with Amanda was great. She responded promptly and thoroughly. We drove out from Hillsboro to view 1 vehicle of 4 we were interested in because none of the other vehicles were available. That was our fault from the get go, we should have waited. We test drive a Nissan Rogue, had our dogs with us, and basically just went around the block. The salesperson went with us despite 2 other people that went on test drives did not appear to have a salesperson with them. It was literally around the block. No speed above 30mph. No orientation to the vehicle. They did a write up of cost and informed me the extended warranty was $3k for 3 years/36k miles. We went home that day, talked, and decided our options were limited and to go ahead and pursue the Rogue. AKA, we felt trapped. It wasn't our first choice but it is what it is. I asked for service records which seemed like a hassle for them but the vehicle just past the 60k mark and the CVT flush was due at 60k. We did get the records. We scheduled to go sign the paperwork over the weekend but a family emergency came up and we had to go sooner. They flooded me with paperwork. Showed me the CarFax. I asked about AutoCheck and they gave me issue. They said everything shows up in CarFax but I do know better than that and purchased a single AutoCheck ($25) while in the lobby at the dealership. The AutoCheck did come up with more damage (front and driver side) than the CarFax did (just driver side) but they said nothing to me about it nor offered to pay me back for the AutoCheck. They showed me the inspection report. The brakes were at 4mm. Brakes typically get replaced at 3mm. It's a $400 job and I refused to purchase a vehicle and turn around and get a brake job done. They kept reminding me "this is a budget lot" and "things aren't new here" yada yada. Yes, I know that Jason. I also know that money is a precious, limited resource. I will not spend $20k on a car and turn around and get brakes done. It took a bit, but with some self-advocacy and showing them multiple Google results about when brakes should be done -- they wrote up a "we owe you" for a brake job. In the end, it was a 3 hour experience. The entire time I felt talked down to by Jason and that I was bothering him. He kept reminding me "this is a budget lot" this and that. I get it, okay. My life sucks right now and you can skip all the constant disclaimers and belittling. I'd rather be at Toyota, yes. Between the belittling and constant pressure to buy an extended warranty, I felt worse about myself than I did in middle school. There was no education provided on the vehicle. No full tank of gas. Nothing. I was made to feel like they were doing me a "favor" by offering me "free" brakes when they should have been done anyway. I would have absolutely walked away. That was, indeed, a safety issue. The "Peace of Mind Pre-owned Promise and a 5-day Exchange Policy" doesn't seem to exist here either, per Jason. ETA: While out of town for our family emergency, and exactly a week after taking delivery, the finance dept texts and says, “”As it sits right now, we do not have a deal and need the car back.” My case is confirmed less than a week later and I sent the confirmation to the dealership. Nothing for 2 days. I had to text/email them multiple times to get a response. Finally, ah yes… everything is fine. Terrible interaction. Total nightmare being in another state and wondering if you still have your car when you return. Actually, made me vomit a few time More
