The entire staff is very professional and customer focused. Although we did not purchase a Mercedes or Volvo at this time, the care and attention given to the Toyota was equally outstanding. An extra thank you goes to Kenny, Chris and Cooper. Best Regards, M. Locklear & family. More

He had the car I was interested in seeing ready for a test drive when we arrived at the dealership. He answered all my questions as he was very informative about the Volvo XC 90 T6. He sold me on this car! I Love It!! Everyone at the dealership was extremely courteous and professional. Scott Mims, manager, was fantastic. Jerry Greene made all the paperwork seem effortless as everything was explained to me before signing any paperwork. It is the first time in 32 years of marriage that I have ever heard my husband say to me that he liked dealing with a dealership. Thank you to everyone at Dick Dyer that made this car purchase a pleasant experience. More

Sold Car to Another Buyer I had agreed to buy a car here. It needed a couple of paint touch-ups so there was a delay in me picking up the car. We agreed that I would pick it up I had agreed to buy a car here. It needed a couple of paint touch-ups so there was a delay in me picking up the car. We agreed that I would pick it up today. I called this morning to schedule pickup. Cashier's check and everything was in order just awaiting pickup. I was then told the car was sold to another person yesterday. This car had everything I wanted and was in price range I wanted. In my opinion, it takes a very shady business to sell a car to another person when this deal was agreed to and basically done other than pickup. Undoubtedly, their word means nothing. Stay away unless you really want to be disappointed. More

Originally I took it to a repair shop that had done work on a Saab I used to have, they said that it seemed to need the CEM reprogrammed and that Volvo had a lock on reprogramming computers. So, I made an appointment with Dick Dyer being told it would take about 2 hours. After sitting in their waiting room for 2 hours Richard Stevens told me it was a bad wire somewhere and would take approximately 3 hours and 3 hundred and some odd dollars. Richard called me later and said that the CEM needed to be replaced and that it would cost $1566. Long story short, they had to order the part and I should have my car back the following Tuesday. Tuesday came and went so I called Richard and he said the car was ready to be picked up. I headed to the dealership from Irmo. When I got approximately 2 miles from dealership I received a call from Richard telling me that the wipers were not actually fixed. He then asked me if I would be willing to leave the car there until Monday when the shop foreman would return from vacation assuring me that he would be able to resolve the issue with it so I left it with them. Sure enough I get a call from Mr. Stevens late Monday that my was finally ready and would cost the original $1566. I asked him at that point, since they had installed a CEM and the wipers continued to malfunction if when the shop foreman found the issue if they had at least tried using my old CEM and he said that it was “fried”. I didn’t believe that then and I really don’t believe it now. It was at this time that I informed him that just months earlier, I had lost my home and about 90% of everything I owned in the October 2015 flood. In retrospect I concluded that people who just want your money are more or less callous to such circumstances. Still and all, I picked up the car and gave them a check for the $1566. Believe it or not, I got about 3 miles from the dealership and out of the blue my wipers came on all by themselves. I immediately pulled into a parking lot and phoned Richard leaving a message that the wipers were not at all fixed. This happened around midday so I thought that he may be at lunch, however he never returned my call. The next morning as I was leaving home I turned on my wipers just to see what would happen and nothing did. At that point I became pretty darn sure that a CEM was not the problem at all since I had a new one and I still had the original problem. I thought the about asking Dick Dyer to refund my money but somehow never thought they would. So I took the only option I believed to be in my best interest and I went to my credit union and put a stop payment on the check. Later that day when I was leaving work the wipers came on again without being turned on. This time so furiously that one of the wiper blades was slung completely off the car. When they finally came to a halt I removed the fuse, put it in the glove box where it remains to this day. That confirmed at least for me, I had done the right thing. So the next morning when I called Richard to tell him that I had stopped payment on the check. About 3 days later, on Saturday morning I searched the Dick Dyer website and found that Hunt Dyer was the company’s President. After finding his email address I sent him an email explaining the ordeal in its entirety and also apologizing for what I believed was the only outcome. Over the next couple of weeks expecting a response from Mr. Dyer, one never came. Instead I found a voice message from A. J. Peeples that was about a week old threatening in a harsh tone to turn my check over to the solicitor because what I had done was a criminal act. My first thought was “good lord where did these people learn this customer service philosophy”. However I sent Mr. Peeples an email to inform him that I had previously emailed Mr. Dyer and forwarded the email to him. So now I have informed 3 people with Dick Dyer that their attempts to repair my windshield wipers have failed. During this time my wife and I were working with an attorney dealing with legal issues from the loss of our home. I explained the stopped check issue with the attorney and they confirmed that I had done nothing illegal. Imagine how shocked I was the day after Thanksgiving when I received a registered letter from the solicitor’s office that I was facing a warrant for my arrest if I didn’t pay not only the $1566 but service fees as well, all totaling $1785.11. Still, in all this time not one single soul from Dick Dyer made any attempt what so ever to find a way to fix my car. If Dick Dyer and Associates has not acted in a most despicable way, then dictionary.com needs to change their definition of “despicable”. Time after time for about a week I continued to call the solicitor’s office. Always getting a voice message and always leaving a message and never got a return call. So why does the solicitor’s office bother putting a phone number on their letterheads if they are not going to answer phones or return calls? Realizing I was beating my head up against a wall, I contacted an attorney that my brother referred. It took him a while but finally spoke to the person in the solicitor’s office that sent the letter. He told them about the car not being repaired and asked them about dropping the arrest warrant. He was told that only Dick Dyer and Associates could do that. He then contacted the dealership and spoke with John Madison, we believe to be the service supervisor, and appealed to him to drop the issue since car had not been fixed. He rejected any consideration to do so. Which made me ask myself again; “How in the world did this company adopt such an outrageous customer service philosophy”? The end result was that my lawyer told me that if I wanted to avoid being arrested that I would have to pay the solicitor’s office for the check, but that he would work with Dick Dyer and Associates to set an appointment to try again to fix the wipers. So on December 28th 2016 I went to the solicitor’s office and paid $1785.11 to the same person that sent the letter. While there I ventured to ask this question; “how is it that if it is not against the in South Carolina to stop payment on a check that I am facing a warrant for my arrest”? I received this simple answer; “I don’t know”. I was completely bumfuzzled. How in the world did malfunctioning windshield wipers come to this? So here I am well over a month later waiting for that appointment. The attorney has made a halfhearted attempt to garner one. Still and all there are 4 people that I know of that has knowledge that I paid them to do a repair job that they failed to do. At least 2 of those were directly involved in an attempt to have me arrested. Needless to say but right now I feel as though I am surrounded by incompetent professionals and a corrupt auto dealership. All things considered I don’t really trust Dick Dyer and Associates to touch my car again. I don’t trust them to be honest and forthright with me and I certainly don’t trust them to give me a refund for their failure to repair my windshield wipers. Needless to say I certainly don’t trust that they would ever offer up an apology for the crap they introduced to my life this year or trying to have me arrested for their short comings. The most I can hope for by writing this is to get it out of my system and to final, once and for all, get beyond it. One added benefit is that this is Volvo number 6 for me and I can definitely say that it will be the last. More
