My 2919 Ridgeline suits my purposes wonderfully. However, when I purchased it, I opted for Dick Brooks to install a tailgate lock that was integrated with my door locks. Seems reasonable, right? However, when I purchased it, I opted for Dick Brooks to install a tailgate lock that was integrated with my door locks. Seems reasonable, right? Why wasn't a tailgate lock standard to begin with? Whatever. The electronic lock is an aftermarket add-on, and it's not robust. The swing latch has failed twice since I have owned the vehicle, the second time about a week ago. Dick Brooks treated the problem as they would anything that failed under the factory warranty -- which means I got lucky and the plastic thing that popped off again in the tailgate was fixed promptly and at no cost to me. Next time it will cost me $200 because my truck will be out of warranty. I was warned to treat the latch for the swing latch very gently, which is certainly good advice. But it's a truck. There should never be a problem with a tailgate. I really appreciate that Dick Brooks treated me well, especially the second time. However, I'm not happy with this piece of junk lock and the almost certain prospect of having to fix it on my dime in the not-so-distant future. More
