Purchase of Explorer We have now purchased two vehicles from Marketplace Motors - a Mercury Mariner in 2013 and now a Ford Explorer in 2014. My husband Lloyd talked with We have now purchased two vehicles from Marketplace Motors - a Mercury Mariner in 2013 and now a Ford Explorer in 2014. My husband Lloyd talked with David Schnaidt for both of these purchases - my husband first saw the 2002 Explorer, and I (Julie) then went to the dealership to take the Explorer for a test drive on Friday, May 16th. Dave was not working that day and Keith Schwandt rode along and answered all my questions about the vehicle. Lloyd had made the deal with Dave and so we decided that we would put down the $500 and we would have Dave bring the vehicle to our farm by Willow City sometime the following week. On Saturday we did decide that I would complete the paperwork and leave our pickup at Devils Lake. I was then in contact with Dave, told him what we were planning and discussed the deal that he had made with my husband, including the delivery to Willow City - I then asked Dave if the Explorer would be full with gas and his response was that he would check with the manager but I could come at 3:30 to complete paperwork. When I got to the dealership I was greeted by both Dave and Keith and proceeded to Dave's office - he never said anything more about the question of a full tank of gas, so I asked if I could look at the vehicle how he was photocopying my liscence - I went out to the Explorer and much to my disappointment, the consel area had not been cleaned and there was less than a quarter of tank of gas. I then asked Dave about the gas and the cleanliness of the vehicle - he said there was nothing that could be done about the gas, so I told him that we would then wait to close the deal, that he could deliver the vehicle to Willow City and do the paperwork with my husband. At that point I could tell that I upset him, but he had told my husband in the initial deal that it would be full of gas. He then left and went and talked to the manager - he never did tell me what was decided and I had to ask - his response to me was "we will fill it" - it wasn't until Julie (Finance) came and got me that I knew what was going on for sure. I did not try to upset anyone but the full tank of gas was part of initial deal. Julie was very thorough with me and I was very impressed - when I was again waiting for Dave, Keith Schwandt stopped by and told me I had purchased a nice vehicle. After Dave came back we went out to the vehicle, he drove our pickup back to the lot behind the dealership and I had to ask him if there was a code for the door lock - I was very disappointed with his attitude, but didn't think a lot of it until my husband received a letter from Dave in the mail thanking Lloyd for the purchase of the Explorer, my names was not listed any where in the letter- excuse me Dave but I am the one who bought the Explorer and it was because I liked it - neither my husband or I are impressed with the attitude he left us - he should be sure to address both the husband and wife, because in most cases, it is both! At this time we are still impressed with Marketplace Motors, but sadly to say, next time we are looking for a vehicle we will be contacting Keith Schwandt, who didn't even make our deal, but took the time to address me and tell me that I purchased a nice vehicle. More
