Howard, I would love to provide "proof" of my original offer, but when I asked for a copy of the original vehicle purchase draft so I could work on my numbers, I was first told by Ed "That sheet has already been shredded". I then asked to speak with a manager as I am sure they can reprint it. He took me to the office where I asked this person for the same sales draft which he found (unshreddded) and provided me. I asked if I could take it with me to work out the numbers and was told no. I asked if I could take a photo of it, and was again told "no, it is an internal document". So unfortunately, I can't provide you proof other than to tell you the price had me ask Ed why I was offered half of what Carmax offered. This is where Ed made the comment of having a "Carmax affiliated team member on site and that after reviewing my car, their online appraisal would be near the same value of their sales draft." While I have issue with the value provided for my trade, my largest issue by far is in the performance of your sales person Ed. On more than one occasion, he was blatantly dishonest and it was not a misunderstanding or something misheard. He told me I couldn't review the original sales draft because it was shredded - not shredded (and even if it was, it could have been reprinted) He told me a Carmax affiliated representative worked on site - again not true. He certainly does not help break the stereotype of the "used car salesman" that the industry has fought for so many years.
