DO NOT USE their service department! They tried to charge me $1,200 for a repair that an independent charged $250 to complete. It is clear to me that they try to gouge their customers and probably figure that if 1 out of 2 don't fight them on it, they're more profitable. Buying my first car with the Dean Team was a wonderful expierence. Anthony was flexible, patient, not pushy, and listened to what I wanted out of my purchase. The process of attempting to lease a new car (first time leaser, never bought a car previously) at Dean Team Hyundai off Manchester started off shaky at best. I found out pretty quickly that the Sales Rep leaser, never bought a car previously) at Dean Team Hyundai off Manchester started off shaky at best. I found out pretty quickly that the Sales Rep was not able to answer many of the basic questions had regarding the vehicle, things like residual value, trade in options at the end of the lease, etc. He was friendly but it was clear he was not very knowledgeable. I was asked to come back later (first visit during lunch) and agreed. This is where it went downhill. The same sales rep began negotiations with me on the expected price for the vehicle I selected (2013 Hyundai Elantra). Not only did he have to leave on several occasions to discuss my negotiation proposals with some mystery employee (this part took well over an hour) but when I finally settled on a monthly lease price it was not until they brought out the "Finance Manager" Jeff Sanders that I was hit with a bunch of additional fees not previously disclosed(already had me sign agreeing to certain numbers, now presenting new numbers/fees). They were very shady in the way they presented the deal, requiring that I sign sloppily hand-written summaries of the agreement before ever offering to disclose the hidden fees (~$1000+ due up front, etc., surprise!) that were not part of down payment or lease/tax payments. This is not the worst part, although it should have been enough for me to leave ASAP. After I filled out a credit application FOR LEASE they proceeded to disappear again for another 45 minutes or so only to return and tell me that I had been declined. WHAT THEY DIDN'T TELL ME was that they had submitted my application to half a dozen different creditors ( i got to find out about that from another reputable dealer I visited and from a bunch of declined credit app notifications I received in the mail in the subsequent weeks). It does not end there, after apparently being unsuccessful in fishing for a creditor for me for a lease, keeping me in the dark the whole time they hacked away at my credit score (previously ~800) in the process, they proceeded to submit me for first time BUYER (not lease) WITHOUT MY CONSENT (found out about this later as well because this move caused problems for me at another dealership). The "Finance Manager" Jeff Sanders comes back with some outrageous numbers for a full purchase of the vehicle (not what I wanted to do) where the monthly payments were twice the original agreed upon amount and for 60 months instead of 36, effectively asking me to pay %30 more than the actual car listed for according to them. When I said that wasn't for me, Jeff Sanders proceeded to tell me that if I hold on a little longer (over 2 hours on second visit in the dealership at this point) his boss was trying to pull in some "favors" with various banks to get me financing. This sounded extremely shady and every other professional I have worked with since has confirmed that it is, in fact, super sleazy if not completely dishonest. I confirmed after this experience that my credit score did drop as a result of this incident. In summary, I highly recommend that you avoid this dealership entirely, especially if you might be a first time consumer looking for quality service and up front helpful honesty while trying to lease/purchase a new car. The employees I worked with started off somewhat friendly at first, but by the time we got into the financial aspects, became very condescending (especially Jeff Sanders) when asked simple questions regarding the process. Last Monday I checked my cell-phone messages and discovered one from Chris. I had interaction with Chris last year seeking a 2012 Sonata Hybrid. We were unable to consumate a deal at that time. The message I received from Chris informed me that Dean Team and Hyundai had some great promotions going on and he thought that the time was ripe for us to make a deal. He requested that I return his call which I did. After somne discussion I agreed to visit the dealership on Friday (24 Aug) to test drive a Sonata Hybrid. After reviewing the Dean Team prices for a Sonata Hybrid online, I called Chris on Wednesday and informed him that based on my internet review, I did not feel that we would be able to make a deal. He said that he would discuss the liklihood of us arranging a deal with Scott Varnum. He called me back a short time later and informed me that after discussing it with Scott they had looked over everything and they felt sure that a deal could be made. I reluctantly agreed to meet with Chris on Friday (24 Aug). I say reluctantly, because I was certain that Chris and the Dean Team would be unable to meet my desires and expectations. I arrived promptly for our scheduled appointment and met Chris for the first time. Over the years (I turned 77 today)I have had dealings with innumerable car salesman. I will say this, that Chris was among the friendliest, most courteous, and most respectful car salesman I have ever had dealings with. Surprisingly to me, we were able to consumate what I consider to be the greatest car trade I have ever made. Chris made the entire Dean Team experience a pleasure and I will not hesitate to recommend this dealership to anyone I come in contact with that is seeking a new Hyundai automobile. More
