If it were just my wife and me, I would agree that it was a simple disagreement. However, two of my neighbors had the same experience as us. In December 2007, we agreed on a deal for a leftover Toyota Sien a simple disagreement. However, two of my neighbors had the same experience as us. In December 2007, we agreed on a deal for a leftover Toyota Sienna, with the salesman. However, when the sales manager (a chunky young man from the Bronx, NY) became involved, he attempted to increase the price of the vehicle. I told him to forget the deal, and I would visit DeLand Toyota and started to walk out. He would not give us back our keys, until I said I intended to call the police. Within the last six weeks, two residents of our street attempted to purchase a used Tacoma trunk and a Prius. In both cases, the sales manager attempted to raise the agreed upon price. CAN ALL THREE OF US BE WRONG OR IS THE DEALER ATTEMPTING TO INCREASE PROFIT. The neighbor attempting to purchase the Prius was told by the sales manager, "You know there is a $1,000 dealer markup on this car." He did the correct thing and walked out and subsequently purchased the same year Prius with less mileage in a private deal. The other neighbor found a Tacoma at David Maus Toyota and purchased it. I can only suggest that you first visit either DeLand Toyota or St. Augustine Toyota. If you want to made to feel stupid, by all means go to Daytona Toyota, and when they attempt to increase your purchase price--WALK OUT. Only until corporate Toyota and/or the Florida Attorney General intervenes in this type of "salesmanship" this dealership will continue the same techniques they attempted on me and my neighbors. More
