Even the discussion of optional insurance at the end of the sale went fairly well despite our expectations that there would be a big sales pitch. Don’t think I will purchase my next car from here. I’m in the initial stages of my car search and today I stopped by to browse pre-owned vehicles (specifically Corolla). I spent about 15 minutes on the lot before anyone greeted me. I consider that a positive since I want to be able to look without having a salesman hanging over my shoulder. That said, David greeted me and I found him to be very personable and professional. He asked me what I was looking for and I advised a CPO Corolla and/or a Corolla coming off lease. In the past, I have bought my cars new and driven them into the ground (3 cars in 24 years). This time, I’m ready for someone else to take the depreciation hit and worry about first dings, etc. David then asked how my credit is (I told him Tier 1) and he suggested a lease. At that point, I was a bit put off. He asked my mileage habits and said with Tier 1 credit I was in good position to lease. Everyone who is car savvy knows that a lease profits the dealership the most. Leases are great for some people- not for me. What if a rogue deer slams into my new shiny leased Corolla and totals it? Guess what? I’m out of a car and basically SOL because I have no equity in the one I’m leasing. We then turned back to discussion of CPO cars. I told him any deal I make on a used car is contingent on an inspection by an independent mechanic. I asked if they accept deposits in such cases? He said he’d have to check with the manager. Really? It’s not a problem at other Toyota dealerships who offer a 5 day/500 mile return / exchange policy and/or they waive the deposit altogether. What is it with these car salesmen trying to push every customer into a lease? This is the 2nd Toyota dealership who has done this to me. Not a happy camper. I will continue my search elsewhere... Leased a new 2018 Highlander Se Brought my 2003 Sienna in to be evaluated if it should be serviced and maintained. Service department gave me an honest overview of the car.
