I have long standing relationship with this dealership going back to when it was Willis Honda, purchasing my first new car in 1990, a new Honda Accord. My youngest son has made 2 new car purchases since 2013, both were successful encounters. Synopsis of yesterday's encounter: My son had his own financing and was willing to consider competitive financing offered by the dealership. The maximum cost he could afford was fixed. We were looking for used Honda Civics no older than 2010, $11,000, less than 30,000 miles. The Civics we looked at were 2012-2014. Most had window sticker prices between $13k-$17k. We were shown a 2012 Civic LX, White, clean 26,000miles. Very nice. We were told the price would start at $12,000. The sales manager, whose name and photo is not available on this webpage, presented us with additional fees added on to this $12k: 1. Deduction of loyalty discount (adding $1000 back to the cost) because we did not have a Davis Honda vehicle to offer as a trade. They said the price of $12k they spoke of included this loyalty discount, which has nothing to do with being a repeat customer or recommending friends and family. 2. The pre-owned certification/warranty sticker on the window indicates the opportunity to purchase pre-owned certification/warranty at the price of $1000. This would purchase 1 year of bumper to bumper warranty and extend the remaining factory warranty from 2 more years to 5 more years - which they spin this as a 7 year warranty, as if you are purchasing 7 years. 3. We would need to pay $495 for the car having been cleaned and detailed. This fee was non-negotiable. Apparently this service is not part of the Davis Honda preparation for selling a used car. 4. $400 Documentation fee. We requested an explanation of what this fee included and we were given a dubious response that equated to this being a non-negotiable fee. 5. $160 MVC fee. We asked why this fee was so high and why it wasn't part of the documentation fee. Again, a dubious response that equated to the fee being non-negotiable (Blah-bla-blah). 6. taxes - truly unavoidable fees In addition to the crazy, up-pricing, we were made to wait for hours while they goofed off saying they were trying to compete with the financing my son already had. This is a usual practice for Davis. They believe keeping you in the dealership for hours benefits their profits somehow. I think they believe it makes the customer desperate. When we refused to pay the price asked, we were told they did not know if they had any cars on the lot in our price range, we would have to walk the lot. We walked onto the lot and into our cars and drove away. We spent about 4.5 hours here. In the end, what they wanted was a down payment. My son had a trade in vehicle but no extra money for a down payment. They did not approach the conversation honestly saying he would need a down payment for the deal to work. They danced around the wording. We had already looked of other cars at a dealership down the road prior to coming to Davis. We went to J & S Autohause on 541, Mount Holly and purchased a 2013 Silver LX Honda Civic with 21,000 miles for $14,000 total, that included the trade and a small down payment. The entire transaction took less than 2 hours. It was one of the most pleasant car buying experiences I've ever been a part of. Thank you Eli and Team!! More

Extremely negative experience Google review of Davis Honda: Saturday 11/21/15 I tried to post this review with no stars, but it would only post with the one star minimum. Wh Google review of Davis Honda: Saturday 11/21/15 I tried to post this review with no stars, but it would only post with the one star minimum. What a horrible experience. All the worst clichés of bad car buying experiences concentrated into a complete waste of time and effort. I got a quote for a 2016 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite from truecar.com, after which I received multiple phone calls and emails from Davis Honda. I've had my 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring serviced at Davis for years, and I was hopeful I would be able to buy a new Odyssey from them for a good price. This would be my 4th Honda Odyssey purchase. I spoke with sales manager Jay Love on a Friday evening by telephone, and I confirmed the sales price by email. I told Mr. Love that I wanted to make an appointment to have them appraise my trade-in and that I would pay the balance in cash. I printed a $1000 loyalty coupon and a $250 trade-in coupon from their website. Mr. Love and I agreed to meet, and I made an appointment to meet with him the next morning. When I arrived at Davis, I was appalled. There were several middle-aged men sitting at their desks, staring at their phones. There were no customers in sight. I saw a man seated at the front desk. I identified myself and I told him that I had spoken with Jay Love the day before. The man was not very helpful, and my words didn't seem to register any kind of response from him. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man surreptitiously looking at me from about 20 feet away. This person slowly approached us, and then he asked if he could help me. I repeated that I had an appointment with Mr. Love and that I was there to get the trade-in appraisal so that I could purchase the new Odyssey. He then identified himself as Jay Love. He said he didn't remember talking with me the night before or about our email exchanges. I told him I saw that they didn't have any Touring Elites in their new inventory. He said he would "have to check their lots" to see what they have. He then directed me to sit down with the man at the front desk, who it turns out was a salesman. Wow. For the next hour, the salesman walked me through their lot, then drove my wife and I to a second lot, until it became apparent to him that there were no Touring Elites in stock. I gave the salesman my truecar.com paperwork, and the two vouchers I had printed from their website. He came back with a sheet of paper which had the following: full MSRP sales price, a lowball quote for my trade-in several thousands of dollars less than even the wholesale price, and terms for financing over 72 months. I was speechless. I told him again about my conversation with Mr. Love, and I reiterated that I wanted to buy the new Odyssey for the agreed-upon truecar.com price with a fair trade-in for my Odyssey. Finally, Mr. Love emerged and confirmed what I had suspected: there was no way they were going to honor the truecar.com quote, and he wasn't even going to make a counter-offer for the trade. Dear potential Honda customers: Hondas make great cars, and the Odyssey is a great car. Save your time and buy one from legitimate, honest people. You won't find them at Davis Honda. More
