We sincerely thank this customer for allowing us to try to gain her financing, and we’re of course very sorry to see her comments. This customer initially completed a credit application on our web site on 7/19/17, but we were unable to reach the customer regarding her application until 8/16. Both our internet salesperson and his assistant made multiple attempts to reach her during this time frame, but we were unable to reach her. I’m sure we could have made more attempts to reach this customer, so we will look into our processes there. Once we finally reached her, our salesperson communicated to her that due to her credit situation, the bank was going to require certain income documentation in order to obtain full approval. We also invited her to come in to the dealership so we could appraise her trade, as all we (or any dealership) can do is estimate the trade value of her trade prior to physically seeing the vehicle. Unfortunately, she never would agree to visit the dealership so we could get the appraisal done, review her income verification documents, verify her identity, and then submit her transaction for approval with the bank. We tried to explain the reasons for this (which were primarily due to her credit situation), but unfortunately she was not willing to come to the dealership, as she wanted to conduct the entire transaction over the phone. I also spoke to her personally, and gave her some different pre-owned vehicle options that appeared to fit her budget and down payment restrictions (she only had $300 to put down as down payment), none of which she was interested in. We did not lie to this customer or hang up on this customer, as I’ve reviewed all of the phone calls. While a customer can take care of a lot of the leg work (applying for credit and getting an estimate on trade value) online, with a poor credit situation like this one, we still must verify the identity of the customer, the customer’s income via the bank’s requirements for approval, and physically appraise the trade vehicle. We never want any of our customers to feel like this customer does about us, but we feel like we did all we could to try and help. Tim Jach/Pre-Owned Director
