Poor Purchase Experience 1. Purchase Price with dealer option: The General Sales Manager (SGM) and I agreed to a purchase price with an add on (door edge guards) options on t 1. Purchase Price with dealer option: The General Sales Manager (SGM) and I agreed to a purchase price with an add on (door edge guards) options on the car. After agreeing to the deal, I completed the finance loan application. Then, the GSM came to me and informed that he will try but cannot promise me to give the door edge guards. I was wondering the same person agreed to give me the edge guards just 10 mins ago and now I am hearing he may not be able to give it to me. He said I can walk out of deal if I want. I was a bit concerned to hear this, but I decided to proceed with the deal as I was buying it for my son who was excited to have a new car (gift) for the New Year. 2. Actual price on paper was higher than agreed: When I went to finance office, they had papers ready to sign with car price higher than the SGM and I agreed just 30 mins ago. When I asked why the price of the car on papers is more than I agreed with the SGM, the finance agent told me that this is the price they had for the car and was not willing to change it. Then he engaged their Finance Director who then told me that the SGM has gone home (off duty) and this is the price of the car I need to pay else I can walk out of the deal. This was a 2nd bad experience in last 30 mins. Then I took the Finance Director to the sales agent to confirm the deal price, but the sales agent told that “he does not know” what price I and SGM agreed to. I know for sure the Sales Agent knew the price, but he was scared to speak the truth in front of Finance Director. By now, I was feeling cheated by these people. After a short conversation I again requested the Finance Director to call SGM on his cell phone and double check the price what he agreed with me. Upon some escalations the Finance director finally called the GSM and then they adjust the price on the paper to what we had originally agreed to. Though they adjusted the price, I was praying to God that there is no more surprise for me in this deal. I was going through a very poor buying experience with them. 3. Finance terms: When I was initially discussing my options to buy a car with dealer’s sales manager (SM), I was told, if I finance the car, I will get 24-36 months loan for about 2% interest rate. I had told the SM that my preference is to “fully pay off” the price of car though personal check unless they give me finance option of 0% interest rate loan (like Toyota finance). My credit score is excellent (820+) and hence I was told by SM that I will qualify for 2% interest rate on 36 months term finance by Honda. But when I went to sign the finance papers, I saw my interest rate was increased to 5.85% and the deal was made to 72 months term. This was my 3rd shocking experience within last 1 hour. Upon this, I wanted to pay off full price of the car using my personal check (I didn’t want to finance such a high interest rate loan) but they did not allow me to make any payment to the car. They said, I can’t pay even $1 cash down on this and I must finance 100% of the amount. Then I requested to at least reduce the payment term from 72 months to 36 months finance term, but they did not allow even that either. They kept high interest rate, max payment term as per their will. Me as a buyer has no choice as they dictated every term and conditions on financing the car. I wish no customer goes though such a poor buying experience. And I sincerely hope sharing my experience here will caution the prospective buyers to be extra careful while negotiating the deal with this dealership. More

From the start, Scott listened to me and provided great service from the test drive to the delivery. Scott followed up on everything he said he was going to do, which is pretty rare in the car business in my experience. He helped me facilitate the purchase by working on the negotiation and did not apply any pressure for us to make a decision. Scott was pleasant and efficient. I also worked with Hafeez (sales manager) and Ali (general manager) and they helped immensely in the buying process. But, most of my work was done with Scott, and I really appreciate his professionalism and follow-through on everything during the purchase. This is my second car bought from David McDavid Honda and both have been excellent transactions. More
