She made me feel important and made me feel like i mattered as a person. She was very honest with me about my options and prices she showed me more than one vehicle that would fit my best interest. She is the best sales rep i have ever encountered i will refer people here always. More

My car broke down 36 days after I bought it Ok well, my husband and I went to dave smith in coeur dalene, because we saw a 99 GMC Yukon on Craigslist, we really needed a bigger vehicle because w Ok well, my husband and I went to dave smith in coeur dalene, because we saw a 99 GMC Yukon on Craigslist, we really needed a bigger vehicle because we have a 2 year old and we really wanted something that was more spacious than a Mazda protege (really tiny car). We test drove it and the car looked fantastic especially for an older car, it it was in good condition, my husband checked out everything and it looked really good! we purchased the car for $4000 and for us that's a lot of money. During the time when we were purchasing the car we really emphasized that we were gonna take a road trip in a few weeks that was gonna add about 700 miles to the car one way, the salesman told us "that we would be fine it's a good running vehicle and also if you were to buy a vehicle from a private party you could walk away and the engine could be messed up and you can't go back to that person, but when buying from a dealership we would stand by our product" ,2 weeks later the check engine light came on and my stomach dropped! We took our road trip because the check engine light was on because of something to do with the emissions. We were thinking ok no big deal. The car was great the whole trip UNTIL we went home and our car broke down 10 hours away from home. Come to find out the engine had seized up and we needed a new one. I called Dave smith to see if they could help us get it home at least, because just getting it home was gonna cost $1000. And that is just not affordable for us. The only thing they offered to help with was to pay for a portion of the labor to put in a motor that we bought! Keep in mind that we bought the car 36 days before this happened and they wouldn't do anything to help me, sure I know it's ours after we bought it but ya know we really needed some help and they wouldn't work with me other than helping to install the new engine and I still would've had to pay a portion for them to do it. I'm incredibly upset that they didn't "stand by their product" when I bought it I was really happy and willing to come back in the future but now, not again because I don't wanna buy something and have it blow up on me. I will never go back because I don't think their cars in their used car section are reliable. Lost me as a customer. More

My husband and I went to Dave Smith for the first time 2 weeks ago to look at trucks. We arrived and Tony was there to greet us. Usually we dread sales people but boy was our experience at Dave Smith totall weeks ago to look at trucks. We arrived and Tony was there to greet us. Usually we dread sales people but boy was our experience at Dave Smith totally opposite from any other experience. We told Tony exactly what we were looking for and he got right to work. Never did he try to talk us in to something we weren't looking for or sell us something we didn't want. We told him about a specific vehicle we saw online but we were told it was not available anymore by one of their other sales people over the phone. He looked in to it for us and found out that it was indeed still available. There were two vehicles we wanted to see and they were at the Kellogg location and tony did everything he could to get them to the cda location so we could test drive them. The vehicle we came specifically to see was the one we purchased. The sale was smooth and easy and it was the best buying experience we ever had with a sales person. We went home and raved about Dave smith and Tony your salesman. We are still talking about our experience and have since sent someone out to see Tony. You have a great facility and a great salesman working for you. If we are ever in the market again for a new vehicle we will defiantly be coming to you again!! Thanks for your help and for making buying a car so easy and painless!! More
We took our 2006 Nissan in for an oil change as we have been doing for years and requested an alignment at the same time. The oil change was actually completed quickly and to our satisfaction, however, the been doing for years and requested an alignment at the same time. The oil change was actually completed quickly and to our satisfaction, however, they refused to do the alignment and instead told us that we needed new tie rod ends on all four of the areas that one could have them replaced to the tune of $1000 for parts and service. The saleswoman was very insistent about it and even told us the story of a friend of hers whose just went out while driving and how dangerous it was. We felt suspicious as it seemed odd that all four tie rods would fail at the same time. We immediately took our car to have the tires rotated and asked them to do an alignment. They said to rotate the tires first and then drive it for awhile to see if we felt it still needed aligned. They noted no problems with our car and when specifically asked said the tie rods were absolutely fine. Not satisfied with a second opinion, we took are car to the local mechanic we usually use and asked again to have the alignment done. He also checked the suspension etc. to make sure there were no problems prior to aligning the car. He also stated there were no problems with the tie rods and actually did the alignment for our car. I am very unhappy with the fact that expensive and unnecessary repairs were pushed at us and will not be returning to Dave Smith for an oil change again. More

I went and got a used car from the DS dealership in kellogg, it was a great looking rig had low mileage and a lot of hidden problems. I asked them if there before I bought it if I could have it transfe kellogg, it was a great looking rig had low mileage and a lot of hidden problems. I asked them if there before I bought it if I could have it transfered so i can look at it and test drive it since I lived in CDA. They denied it because they didnt want to. So the nice part was they got a ride for us over to kellogg but only so they can get the car sold faster. Well the car was great and they must have lied to us about a full service check because I saw things that should have been reported. I was sketchy because I pointed out the tires were pretty low on tread. We also had to put gas into the car just so we can get home with gas left over YAY! Well a week later we had a tire literally pop off the bead of the wheel. So I had the tire checked out and put back on, well the tire had a hole which 3 tire stores said it was so small that it could have held air for a long time and slowly leaked out causing the tire to come off the bead on a slow roll. Explained to DS and they pretty much said oh well, NICE. Well its now been two weeks and guess what same tire, side, are, and its FLAT hmmm. So I had the Auto Center evaluate my car to see what else could go wrong. Make it short, I have wheel spacers on aftermarket wheels which have caused the bearings, suspension, alignment, brakes to prematurely fail and the tires have been patched more then once and not by my order. The two front tires have 2+ patches and one wheel is bent YAY. Now my car has started stammering at idle WHAT ELSE IS GOING WRONG. Then still no answers from DS and obviously no call backs of course nothing new. I just cant believe I paid the amount I did for so much work needed already and Im a xxxx mechanic, I am scared thats not good. More
Here is the e-mail I sent to DSM regarding my experience with them: I was just hoping to let someone know about my experience at Dave Smith. Back in February of this year I started shopping for a 2010 T with them: I was just hoping to let someone know about my experience at Dave Smith. Back in February of this year I started shopping for a 2010 Terrain. I had spoken with several dealers including DSM. I chose DSM because my salesman—JD Coseo “promised” and “swore” to me that I would get between Kelly Blue Book and NADA guides for my trade in and went on to state that “we always average the two to come with the trade in”. The other GMC dealers were going to give between 11,500 and 12,000 and that was around what KBB had my Murano listed for. I ordered my Terrain on 2/22/10. That day I also inquired about the free night at the hotel with the water park. I was told by JD that “we will deal with that when it got closer” and he assured me that DSM would be happy to put my son up for the night when I came up to pick up my Terrain. Some friends of mine bought a car through Anthony in Feb of this year and were treated to a night at the hotel along with water park passes. My first mistake was going through JD and not Anthony. In May I called the accessories department and ordered Husky liners all around as well as a cargo liner. I was assured that these would be ordered and available for use when my Terrain arrived in June. My Terrain arrived to DSM on 6/11. I called JD on 6/15 and said I was coming up to get my Terrain. He happily said “no problem”. He did say that “there was going to be a problem with the hotel though”. He explained that “some dealers offer extras to their customers but he couldn’t”. I just really felt like I should have been told that from the beginning. My son was excited to go and have fun. This was my first disappointment. It made me feel that since I ordered my car that I was a sure thing to buy and no extra effort was necessary to swoon me. That is fine if that is how DSM chooses to do business. When I arrived in Kellogg in 6/15, it was after 5 and it took over 2 hours to get there. All was fine until I had to meet with the manager in the ‘little room’ to go over trade in price. Earlier in the day I had entered the appropriate info about my 2004 Nissan Murano into KBB and Nada Guides. For a clean Murano KBB had 11,700 and NADA had it listed at 13,000. The manager agreed that my car was in great shape for 103,000 miles, even exclaiming that he hadn’t seen a car in that good of shape. My initial offer was 9,000. Even after I explained that JD had “promised me at least KBB” etc…the price went up to 9,500. To say the least I was not happy. I felt used, lied to and mis-treated. If DSM had no intention of meeting KBB then I should not have been told that. Upon confronting JD, he agreed that he lied and I told him never to lie to his customers again. I would never do that to my customers! To top off all of the letdowns, my Husky liner or Cargo liner was not in and now was going to have to be mailed to me. I realize that DSM has “invoice pricing”, but if you’re going to make your money by stealing trades, I suggest you become a little more transparent about that and be honest with customers. If I would have been told from the beginning, “Hey listen, we rarely meet KBB that is how we keep prices low on the other end”, I would have felt more prepared and not lied to. I refused to sign the customer satisfaction paper, because, I obviously was not satisfied. By the time I finally got over to Tim in finance I was emotionally exhausted, frustrated and ready to cry. This had become a horrible experience. Tim also asked me to sign the customer satisfaction and I again refused and explained why. He apologized profusely and said that he would talk to some fellow managers in the morning about what had happened. The next day Tim did call me back with a final figure of 10,000 for my car, which was still far below what I deserved. I felt trapped into buying the Terrain. They were selling like hot cakes and you guys could have cared less about me because you knew it would sell. It really makes me sad if this is how you choose to do business. We all have choices in life and I will choose never to set foot there again. What is interesting about this is that my dad came up awhile back and paid cash for 4 trucks. He felt like he was hosed on his trade-ins too and was going to gage my experience on whether he would ever come back to DSM. Obviously he is never coming back and neither am I. I will tell my story and experience to anyone looking for a car. You guys may have stole $1500 from me but my dad will spend his $150K somewhere else this year. I finally received my Husky liners on the 25th and still have yet to see the cargo liner. Just icing on the cake of your very poor customer service. Amber McCaw More
