My challenged to purchase a new car began. I started out looking at 5 seater SUV's at Ford/Edge, Chevy/Equinox and Honda/CRV and quickly changed my mind to the 7 seater SUV's. I went back to look at the Ford/Explorer, Honda/Pilot and also took a look at the Toyota/Highlander. After extensive research and customer service, I am now the proud owner of a Honda Pilot.I believe every car dealership needs to take a good look at their sales force and offer some retraining on customer service. After visiting two dealers in two states and discussing purchase/price with another in a third, I decided to try the St. Louis area dealers. An identical inquiry was sent to five dealerships. Only two of those five answered the questions that I asked in a timely manner. I declined the offers of both as my prior dealings yielded a lower price. St. Louis Honda was the ONLY dealer that actually read my email and indicated a willingness to work with me on the purchase of a new Honda. Clayton Patterson answered all my questions in a timely manner, including responding on his day off which I did not expect but appreciated. His responses were complete and professional. We reached an agreement that made us both happy and I drove approximately two hours one way to purchase my vehicle here. It should be noted that there is a dealership less than 15 miles from my home and two more that are closer than St. Louis Honda. I would rather have a root canal than negotiate a new vehicle purchase, however the staff of Dave Mungenast St. Louis Honda made the process a much more pleasant experience. While I will not be taking advantage of some of the perks that go with purchasing a new vehicle from them due to the distance from my home, they will definitely be at the top of my list when it is time to replace one of my other vehicles.
