After having a part break TWICE, I was "finally" told it had NOT been a brand new part they put on my vehicle in the first place. They replaced it..once and then twice and then told it would not be the third time. It quit after just a few months...both times. I have an extended warranty on this vehicle, yes, bought from Hallmans. I was NEVER told the part they put on it in the beginning was NOT a new part. More
Very questionable practices ---- Upon moving back north from living in North Carolina for over 3 years, I immediately intervened to help our daughter have her 2014 Suburban inspected Upon moving back north from living in North Carolina for over 3 years, I immediately intervened to help our daughter have her 2014 Suburban inspected and maintained. The vehicle has never towed anything, she uses it to take kids to school, go to work, simple usage. Upon calling for an oil change, inspection, and tire rotation , we dropped off the vehicle , and was immediately advised by Rick in service that at 45,000 miles, a complete flushing and changing of fluids would be highly recommended for the safety of my 9 months pregnant daughter and the 3 kids under 5, as the vehicle would be unsafe otherwise. I was aghast, we were there just before closing, the grand kids were in my vehicle outside waiting impatiently, our daughter was very tired - many circumstances which caused me to finally concede and allow this to be done. I tried calling back as soon as we left, to rescind the extra work orders , to be told Rick had left, would be back at 7:30 am. I called at 7:30, and every 5 minutes, leaving a message the first time. I finally reached Rick at 8:05 , to be told the mechanics were already almost done with it, fluids were drained, and he never got a message. I called the original Chevrolet dealership, my own locally, where I have dealt for decades - and others, and they all corroborated my suspicion that most of this work was totally unneeded at this mileage. After calling for hours to reach the service manager, Gene, he essentially stated that it was not such a bad idea, it should have been done, and justified it using examples of vehicles that had failed for one reason or another - extreme conditions, usage, etc - irrelevant in my case. Rick looked up the vehicle on the computer, our daughter's father in law purchased an extended warranty for around $2400.00 upon purchase, - he never found that nor the covered services (oil change and rotation) which he also charged us for. In my opinion, this constitutes dishonest practices, taking advantage of lay consumers that place their trust in trained people that we depend on for the safety of our vehicles - so we are very vulnerable in instances such as this. Shame on Hallman Chevrolet and staff. I will seek redress as possible via other avenues. More
Not so good after all I gave this dealership 5 stars a year ago only to find out they lied to me. Purchased a used truck that I over paid on but my credit was not good. Wit I gave this dealership 5 stars a year ago only to find out they lied to me. Purchased a used truck that I over paid on but my credit was not good. With the deal that was made I also got a one month warrenty. I still had to pay service money to get things fixed that month that were wrong or not working such as an ABS control module. Anyways long story short I brought vehicle back before I even purchased it because it had a dealer plate on it while finance was being done and I said that the truck has no heat. They flushed heater core and it worked. But the next day the windows were fogging up with the smell of coolant which is toxic. It was steaming through the vents. Brought it back again and it needed a new heater core. Come to find out almost a year later that the heater core was never changed as it leaked all over my floor and all the windows again and was told by another shop that it was never changed out. I spent a ton of money at this dealership to get other stuff done only to find out that they screwed me the day I purchased this truck. Anyone else have similar issues?? I'm thinking going to the news and going from there. I just hate being lied to. It's very unfair and wrong. Now because of them I gave a useless truck that's full of toxic coolant fumes and mist. Not to mention the trucks rear backing plates were so rotted out that it should not have passed inspection. So they don't look these vehicles over before selling them like they say they do. More
Don't Trust Their Used Dealership! This is long, but please take the time to read it, I got taken BAD! I hope no one else has to learn like this! "THE BEST DEAL IN AMERICA!" As thei This is long, but please take the time to read it, I got taken BAD! I hope no one else has to learn like this! "THE BEST DEAL IN AMERICA!" As their slogan says. Hardly, this dealership should be fined for false advertising. Never have I been spoon-fed so many lies and given so many excuses, it's also only time I've ever been ripped off in a vehicle purchase, and I've owned 15 vehicles. I chose Hallman for their reputation around the city, half the people I know have bought a vehicle from Hallman so I felt comfortable going to them and figured I could put a reasonable amount of trust in them to give me a square deal, not necessarily a bargain but I at least figured I wouldn't get ripped off. Referred by a friend (who would get $100 for referring me), business card in hand, I browsed the lot. I selected a truck I liked in my price range and started talking to a salesman about it. I had been warned by a friend that Hallman sets their prices about $4,000 higher than they actually expect to get for their used vehicles, the asking price was $12,000, blue book told me the truck was worth $11,000 maximum, that's in perfect condition. I started low suggesting I pay $8,000, he didn't say much regarding that figure however he brought me in to his office and started running paperwork while the finance man went to work, I had just gone back to zero so I knew the interest rate wasn't going to be pretty. When the paperwork was brought back the total sale was $11,200, approved at 18% interest rate for five years! Naturally I wasn't pleased and the salesman gave me every line in the book about how the bank might have charged extra, they can't go any lower, blah, blah, blah. Stupid, stupid me, I should have walked out...instead I signed away, insecure about my credit and thinking, "if Hallman can't do better than this maybe I'm just out of luck this time." When the snow melted and weather improved, the true condition of this truck began to come to light, the tires were bald, the rocker panels were bad, there was rust around the wheel wells, on the rear bumper, the check engine light was on, there was other stuff too but I'll keep the list short. Hallman had been sending me emails reminding me to write an experience review of them online. Feeling swindled and insulted, I emailed them informing them of my dissatisfaction and if I wrote a review it would not be flattering. To my surprise, a manager called me a matter of hours later apologizing for my sub-par experience and inviting me to return, maybe get me a different vehicle or at least see what they could do. Flattered and pleased, I returned to see exactly what they could do. What I got was a dog and pony show with academy award-worthy performances by my previous salesman and this manager. After a couple hours of watching two men who were wasting their acting talent selling cars, in the end what I got out of my return was a free set of used tires, unmounted of course I had to spend $80 to have them put on. I only had the truck for about 8 months, making perfect payments to the loan company. The truck ended up being totalled in a winter accident when it skidded on ice. My true shock and the cost of Hallman's swindling hit me when I learned the total payout on my truck was $2,700 less than I had paid! I recently spoke to an attorney about the auto insurance situation and my experience at Hallman. I inquired on the legitimacy of some of the excuses the salespeople gave me. Both of us could only conclude it just was a bunch of smoke and mirrors, even one of the claims adjusters I talked to said they didn't understand Hallman's stubborness about their prices. I will certainly never return to Hallman, I would get $100 for referring a friend to Hallman, that being said I would never refer anyone there. I have taken from this experience a valuable lesson and I pity the next used car salesman who has to deal with me... More
Recently my car's check engine light came on so I schedule an appointment with Hallman Chevrolet to have it looked at. After running a diagnostic and obtaining the error code they could not find the schedule an appointment with Hallman Chevrolet to have it looked at. After running a diagnostic and obtaining the error code they could not find the problem. They then simply cleared the error code, charged me 80 dollars and some change and sent me out the door. A week later the light came back on so I knew something was up. I checked the paperwork and found the error code they worked from. I looked it up myself and found that it was due to too much gas in my oil. I did a simple test to confirm this (took the dipstick out of the oil and smelled it) and it reeked of gas. I then took the car to a service station I trust in Pittsburgh and told them what was going on. They said they'd waive the diagnostic fee and check out the fuel pump. It turns out the fuel pump was leaking internally and needed replaced. Everything was done for free since I had the GMC Major Guard warranty. I called Chevy's customer service to try and get refund from Hallman's, My reasoning is that if they had done a simple test like I did they would have discovered the problem. Instead, they kept the car for a hour, ran a smoke test and gave it back. If they had found the fuel pump problem, the fee would have been included in the repair. Hallman repeatedly said that there is no way they would refund the money because it wasn't their fault they couldn't figure out was wrong. Chevy's corporate office also would not assist with getting any type of refund. Sorry but if their service department is that incompentent, I won't be taking my car back there ever again and I suggest you don't either. More
I had problems with my truck soon after bringing it home. Don Adams and Dave Hallman Chevrolet went to great lengths to rectify the problems. It was greatly appreciated! Don Adams and Dave Hallman Chevrolet went to great lengths to rectify the problems. It was greatly appreciated! More
