Mike was focused on what I needed in a vehicle and I'm satisfied with my purchase; it's a good match. I never felt pushed or pressured into buying a vehicle which was great. My purchase was in December of 2018 and was a used 2015 GMC 1/2 ton double cab truck with the Z71 towing package; roughly 45,000 miles on the truck. I also bought a new SD series 7-1/2 foot Fisher snowplow for the truck. The dealership did a nice job with the installation of the snowplow - things were aligned well and the wiring was run in a sensible and 'ease-of-use' manner. Due to the new snowplow on the truck, I did experience a greatly elevated engine temperature issue on the initial ride home with the truck. The plow greatly blocks the airflow coming through the radiator which can bring this issue out. It struck me, though, that the issue seemed too great and that the thermostat on the truck was likely on the borderline of its functioning and that the new plow blocking a large quantity of the airflow through the radiator had exposed this. I called Mike to let him know that I was returning to the dealership regarding this issue. Mike was great and let the service department know what was happening and told me to pull directly into the service bay when I returned. The service department did it's evaluation on the truck and did agree that the thermostat could be an issue. To my satisfaction, the service department replaced the engine thermostat (under the dealership's cost) and the truck has been fine since. More

A Hassle-Free Purchase My wife and I had recently been looking at trading in our truck since it was getting up there in mileage. When we found out that Darlings had been bu My wife and I had recently been looking at trading in our truck since it was getting up there in mileage. When we found out that Darlings had been buying up a lot of very nice (mostly single owner) Volkswagen TDI's, we decided to drop in and see what they had. Initially we went to Bangor to test drive and work with a known and trusted salesperson at the value center. While we did find a vehicle we liked, we couldn't quite come to terms on all of the numbers and departed empty handed. A few days later I stopped in to the Darling's Auto Mall in Ellsworth, since I work in Ellsworth, this was a convenient stop. I found that they had a Golf TDI on their lot that looked to be in great shape also and thought it would be worth a test drive. I went in and worked with Gary in sales. He turned my truck over to his manager to be assessed for trade in and he and I went for a test drive in the Golf. I was surprised by how much I liked it but really wanted my wife' second opinion on it. The next day she drove over to Ellsworth to try the car out for herself...she loved it! I headed over for a moment just to start the paperwork and then headed back to work. By 11 that morning, I received the call that everything was a "Go" and headed back over to finalize the deal. Gary our salesperson and Matt the business manager were extremely helpful, very honest, and straightforward. In a matter of 3.5 hours, we test drove two cars, settled all of the numbers, finalized financing, had the car fueled up and detailed, and we took possession. We want to thank everyone involved for making this such a good experience. More
