Cute car mechanics Usually the conventional wisdom is NOT to take one's car to the dealership for service mainly because of the much higher prices; my thinking on this h Usually the conventional wisdom is NOT to take one's car to the dealership for service mainly because of the much higher prices; my thinking on this has somewhat modified lately as I can appreciate the supposed thoroughness of this particular dealership's service, I like the carwash with any service, plus I like the availability of the van to take me home and pick me up when the car is done. This way the mechanics who work on the car aren't necessarily pressured under some kind of deadline and I don't have to sit around some waiting room for hours on end--since I can be home I usually allow all the time they need to do the job. I also like the coupons that come in the mail and have found that quite often the dealership might actually be competitive with the quick oil change places or Pep Boys. No service place is perfect by any means, including Honda, but I am satisfied to the point where I will make return visits for service. More

Overall good, but Overall my experience buying a Honda Ridgeline was good, but not without experiencing some bumps in the road. The best part of the experience was working with my salesman Eli. He's easy going and hassle free. He made my experience very comfortable and it was the first time in my car buying history that I didn't feel like I was being hustled by a sleezy salesman. If you're at this dealership, I recommend personally requesting Eli. He is an internet sales guy but was on the floor that day. The bumps in the road that I experienced was with the manager Jeff. Ironically he was being non negotiable. I'm not sure if Jeff realizes this, but negotiating needs to be open for discussion otherwise you lose opportunities. What I was asking for was not unreasonable. Working through Eli, I set the anchor for the trade in value of my car, Jeff countered, I countered and he simply said no. He wouldn't even take the time to speak to me in person so I walked out and headed over to Honda El Cajon. I explained my experience at Mission Valley and El Cajon sales was ready to jump on the opportunity to win my business. While I was headed to El Cajon, Eli called me from Mission Valley and gave me a counter offer to my trade in car (luckily Jeff had gone home for the day). I was pleased with the price, but decided to spend another 45 minutes negotiating at El Cajon to see if I could get the overall price that I wanted including out the door price of the truck and accessories then I called Eli to see if he could match or beat the price. Mission Valley worked with me even more and they ended up offering me a great deal. I decided to return to Mission Valley dealership only because of Eli and his efforts. 7 hours in total it took for me to drive home with my new truck, from test drive to sale. My other bump in the road was with Mission Valley finance department. I wanted to use my own bank for my car loan, but didn't have a check in hand so I was told I needed to ensure my bank provided the dealership with a check by Wednesday. I worked with my bank and they said they would have it to the dealership no problem. I called the finance department on Monday and left a message. No return call. I called on Tuesday and left a message. No return call. Wednesday was my deadline date or I would be forced to use the loan through the dealership. Since no one could call me back, I had to personally drive to the dealership and ask if they had received my check. It took about 20 minutes from the time someone spoke to me until someone could tell me that they did in fact receive the check. As I stated, overall my experience was good, but it could have been great without the issues I experienced with Jeff and the finance department'ss unresponsiveness. If it weren't for Eli, I would have purchased elsewhere. One last thing, I absolutely love the Honda Ridgeline. Well done Honda. Ps. Shout out to Antonio in service. He hustled for me when there were hiccups with my crossbars and security system installation. More
