This is the first time we came to Darcars Lexus dealerships in Silver Spring for our new SUV. Mr Sam Kim and Mr Sheng had helped us friendly with their professional and knowledgeable about the NX35 dealerships in Silver Spring for our new SUV. On the day of transaction he meticulously walked is through every step of the process and ensured that the car was setup and ready to run for my parents. He definitely set the bar high if we were to venture on another car buying experience. Sheng had also contributed expert guidance on car operations, functions and features helping to ease my parents' anxiety in operating a new car. Financing was a breeze working with Jared as he patiently walked my parents through the process and finalization steps. We also met with Nguyen Tang the Service Director and Ann Noblejas the Service Manager ensuring us of future car servicing at the dealership topping off the whole experience and easing future maintenance needs. I’m writing this letter in reference to my wife’s car, a 2015 Lexus RX 350. As you know her motor blew up on March 5, 2022. She first saw a check engine light on March 1, 2022 when driving home. She park 2015 Lexus RX 350. As you know her motor blew up on March 5, 2022. She first saw a check engine light on March 1, 2022 when driving home. She parked the car in the garage and I looked at it on the evening of March 3, 2022. I checked all the fluids and everything seemed fine. I spent one hour looking in the book because on the screen it said “all wheel drive off track” I searched but couldn’t find anything. She never drove the car after that until March 4, 2022 to come to work. I started the car an hour after she arrived and again it said the same thing. She complained of no heat so naturally I figured the thermostat was not working. I also noticed when driving the temperature gauge was not working. I drove straight to Dar Cars Lexus of Silver Spring with no problems. I dropped the car off and signed an agreement to have them diagnose the car for a cost of $189.00. They then in turn gave me a loaner car. I tried to reach them on Saturday to tell them not to touch the car. I found out at that time that their mechanic took apart my car without my permission to find out what the problem was. I called and asked why when all they had to do was remove a spark plug and they could scope each cylinder to see if they thought it was the head gasket they could easily find out. They then said I had a balance of $600.00 which I refused to pay. In the meantime I was speaking with my salesperson and the new manager at Dar Cars and informed them that I had filed a claim with Lexus direct advising that Dar Cars wouldn’t do anything for me. There was no service due until it reached 60,000 miles and the car was running fine. They said that since I hadn’t serviced the car at a Lexus Dealer they would do nothing. I spoke to my salesperson and the manager again and they said they would sell me a new car with a balance because the old car was not running anymore. It would cost $14,000.00 to replace the motor and my wife owed $16,000.00 so we would have to bring $10,000.00 to the table and they would get us in a new car. We refused their offer as the car was running when I brought it in until they took it apart without my permission. We also have GAP Insurance that I figured should have come into play but was never offered or even spoke of. They put Deb’s car back together and I had it towed to Crownsville Automotive to see what they thought the problem was on Monday, the 28th of March. I again spoke to Lexus themselves and they said the same thing the dealer said, that since I didn’t service the car at a Lexus dealer they would do nothing for me and then wouldn’t take anymore of my calls. I know that in the state of Maryland I can take my car anywhere I wanted to. All it needed was oil changes. They dealer charged $259.00 for an oil change and I took it to Jiffy Lube where it was $71.95 a more reasonable rate. We have all of receipts/tickets of anything done to the car and yet they wouldn’t accept them. Crownsville assessed the motor as blown so I had to find a motor to purchase and have it installed. I had the car towed to Lain’s Automotive where the motor I purchased was installed. Lexus didn’t give us any choice in what we had to do. A car that cost $55,000.00 should have given us a warning other than the one it did. We’ve leased and bought cars from Lexus since 2001 and felt like we were taken advantage of. All they wanted to do was sell us a new car and take our old one. While I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, a Lexus in exceptional shape with a new motor is a pretty sweet deal for about $18,000.00 to one of their people. I’ve enclosed all of the paperwork I think you need to proceed. I would also like to know why a car with 39K miles could not get an extended warranty from Lexus. I believe when you transfer a leased car to an owner it would then be a used car which should have qualified. We figured this would be the last car we would have to buy her as she is 65 years old and drives about 10K a year. More
