I had a deal with a young sales rep named Tina Msallam to purchase a new, specific Lexus GX. We discussed my trade-in, how long it would take to finalize all the paperwork on the day of pick up, what I would need to bring along (the title for the trade-in and both car keys), and, most importantly, we had a agreed upon a price for the new GX. Tina knew that I was driving all the way from the east of Long Island (over a 2 and 1/2 hour drive) to finalize the deal there in Connecticut. When my partner and I arrived, we were left sitting in the show room for close to a half an hour (from 10:30am to approximately 11am) wondering what was going on ... only to find out from her and her manager that "my" car was sold earlier that morning. (The showroom opened at 9:00am). Naturally, I hit the roof. We had just driven over 2 and 1/2 hours to get there and would have to drive back home another 2 and 1/2 hours ... without the car we had been promised. It cost us almost a full tank of gas and a lot of aggravation in traffic. Now, the real question is: did they really sell THAT car THAT morning? Or, was it a bait and switch just to get us in the showroom ... knowing we drove a long way and thinking we would be willing to buy a different car?? We don't know. We just know that what they did was UNPROFFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL, RUDE, SLEAZY, and DESPICABLE. If you are actually interested in purchasing a Lexus, I suggest you go to another dealership. More
