I was in the market for a quality used car and had cash to pay for it. I was treated as a second class citizen at this dealership. It was by FAR the worst I visited in my search. I looked at privately ow to pay for it. I was treated as a second class citizen at this dealership. It was by FAR the worst I visited in my search. I looked at privately owned cars and a few dealerships and did a LOT of research on the cars I was interested in. I drove into Fairfax Honda on a whim as I was passing by on my way home from looking at a privately owned car and was immedialty greeted by Ricky. He was seemed friendly on first meeting and I thought I would give a big dealership a chance even though it was not my first choice for car buying. I told him my ideal used car mileage and price range and he proceeded to show me a few cars. I test drove 3 of them but was not familiar with any of the brands. I drove one Sonata that I was familiar with and it was in such bad shape I couldn't believe they were trying to sell it. I was first pressured by Ricky and then his sales manager to buy any one of these 3 cars that i had done no research on and was not convinced of the road readiness of. They finally let me leave after about 3 hours (although i had to ask for the keys to MY car back twice!) but told me to come back that night after doing some online research on the cars they were offering me to "seal the deal". At this point I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt still (not sure why in retrospect) so I went home and did a little research. I found a different car they were offering online close to my price range the next day and I asked about that one. I went to test drive it and it seemed to be in okay shape but there were a few things obviously wrong with the car that I would've wanted fixed before I spent my hard earned money on it. One of them being the fact that the headlight were so dim I could barely tell them were on. They kept telling me they were fine and that I would drive it home that night. Then they told be they would only give me $400 for my trade in and could barely take any money off the asking price. $400 is less than half the trade in value for my car in "fair" condition! They had previously told me they could give me $1200 for it on a different car. I do not have much experience with dealerships but this does not seem right to me. Also the trade in value of the car I was considering buying and the retail value were so far off from what they were essentially wanting me to pay. I walked out of the dealership that night not expecting to hear from them. They called me 5 min after I left and said they would try and make a deal the next day. They called and said there was nothing they could do on the price and I said that's fine thank you for your time. I then received a minimum of 1 call a day from Ricky for almost a week. He always called when I was at work and left a brief message. In the mean time I found a great car from a dealership that treated me like a human being and I gave them my hard earned cash. I finally got a call from Dave, Ricky's manager and I told him I had found a car and that I would like to have all my information they had destroyed. He told me he couldn't do that and then HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. I will NEVER in my life recommend anyone going there for anything! not even to use the bathroom! More
The great experience of purchasing my 2010 Honda CRV at Fairfax Honda was enhanced due to the pleasure of dealing with my salesperson, Sean. I am out of town person. Had to end up buying the car with these people. While buying the Car the staff really rushed me and made me to buy the Car CRV. Immediately after one day of buying the car got a with these people. While buying the Car the staff really rushed me and made me to buy the Car CRV. Immediately after one day of buying the car got a problem on the car and when trying to reach the staff or any staff at the dealer no are helping and in turn they are blaming me saying "who knows you might have did some thing". This is really a sad part. Spending $27000 on the Honda CRV the response from the staff is unacceptable. And they themselves say they are the Giant Honda sale dealer in the Mid Atlantic. CRAP CRAP CRAP. Now I am driving a defect new car by spending $27000. When I asked for fixing the issue, they are not even bothered to reimburse me the Gas bill as I need to drive all the way to Fairfax to get the problem fixed. Very Pathetic. I already wasted two days in my town roaming between the local dealer and home. I wasted two days not going to work. Now I lost two days of my pay and also peace of mind for driving this defective crap. BAD CUSTOMER CARE OVER ALL VERY BAD. I request people not at all to go to these people. Strong suggestion for the people buying the car get your correct credit score, know about the vehicle from the dealer regarding the Warranties, how they handle when you come into problem. More
I guess when you have such a high volume selling store as Fairfax Rosenthal Honda which i have been buying from for 10 years now, your bound to get some negative reviews. also people are faster at reporting Fairfax Rosenthal Honda which i have been buying from for 10 years now, your bound to get some negative reviews. also people are faster at reporting negative experiences than positive ones first. I was asked by my salesman to write about my experience here. I have bought my third car from Fairfax Honda in the last 10 years. from my first experience to the previous one has been great. The reception, sales force, and finance has been helpful, honest and insightful to all my worries every time. They have put in extra attention to my loans and given me great lease programs. I hope that some one else will start writing about your positive experiences here, as these guys really work hard to make their customers happy. More
Used sales staff was very friendly, but the service center/mechanics seem careless. I purchased a used Mazda after being reassured several times that the car was in excellent condition and had been center/mechanics seem careless. I purchased a used Mazda after being reassured several times that the car was in excellent condition and had been carefully checked by their mechanics. The next day, while driving down the interstate, blue smoke began to billow from the tailpipe. The service center at Fairfax Honda told me they didn't think anything was wrong but that I would have to take it to a Mazda dealership to be sure. Days later, it happened again, but the car also loses power on an on-ramp. This time Fairfax Honda actually bothers to look at the car and tells me they had originally added 5 quarts of oil instead of 4. Too bad they didn't bother doing such a simple check the first time. Also, one of the four "new"-but-mismatched tires they sold with the car was not the same size/speed rating as the others. More
I went to Fairfax Honda last week with my mother who has been a long time customer of this dealership. I had been searching for a new vehicle and decided to take a few minutes to look at the current Honda y been a long time customer of this dealership. I had been searching for a new vehicle and decided to take a few minutes to look at the current Honda you had in stock. When I went into the dealership I was greeted by Sam. I explained to him about the problems that I had with my current vehicle and asked what Honda he had to offer that was comparable to the car i had now. Sam showed me a new 2011 Honda Pilot as well as a used model. He was very helpful, but not pushy. I told him that I would like to come home and discuss this with my husband and then come back and test drive it when my husband could be there as well. Today we went back to test drive the Pilot. We requested that Sam wait on us again. He allowed us a nice test drive, and he went with us and explained all of the features of the car. When we got back to the dealership we were able to sit down with Sam and discuss the purchase of the car. We explained to him what we had researched and to the best of our knowledge what we thought we should be paying. We came to agreement on the price immediately. We felt that he respected our opinion and listened very closely to our opinion. This was far and above the best experience we have ever had purchasing a car. Every person at the dealership was so kind, friendly, and respectful. In the past we have had tremendous stress when buying a new vehicle, but this time it was actually fun and very enjoyable. I know if I have problems with my new pilot that I can stop in and count of Fairfax Honda to take care of it. We will be strongly recommending him and this dealership to our friends and family that are looking to purchase a new car. they have made customers out of our family for life!! More
I was in the market for a new vehicle. I had been looking at Toyotas and was working with a salesman at the dealership. I just happened to stop by Fairfax Honda to take a look since I had never really consid at Toyotas and was working with a salesman at the dealership. I just happened to stop by Fairfax Honda to take a look since I had never really considered a Honda, all my cars had been Toyotas before. I must say that the staff at fairfax Honda far outshined those at the Toyota dealership. After i explained to Haluk what I was looking for, he lead me straight to the perfect vehicle! I hadn't even considered a Civic, but after driving it I fell in love! The price was unbeatable! There was no pressure, no hassle. Haluk was very patient and allowed me to look at and test drive several vehicles to compare features and pricing. Along with Haluk, MIke Taylor the sales manager was exremely friendly. That is the first time I have actually met a new car sales manager. In my previous experiences they usually went hiding g in the back some where playing bad guy good guy with the pricing. Mr. Taylor made it a point to greet me and has done so each and every time I stop by the dealership. These guys are a perfect example of excellent customer service. When it was all said and done the only thing they asked me was to fill a survey on the internet documenting my experience. They explained that this is how they train their staff and make sure their customers stay happy and get the best that Rosenthal Fairfax Honda has to offer. More
Rudeness, insults, and haggling, that was my experience with Fairfax Honda. We had a scheduled appoiontment with another dealership further away but when I called, they said they could work with us on the with Fairfax Honda. We had a scheduled appoiontment with another dealership further away but when I called, they said they could work with us on the USAA guaranteed quote. My wife and I gave our USAA dealerprice for the other dealership, they showed their price and wouldn't budge to meet the other dealer price. They offered less than half the Kelly Blue Book value for our two trade-in cars, then stated that was what they paid for the same at an auction...True, but they then sold those cars for $5000 OVER the kelly blue book, making almost a $10,000 profit. When we insisted that their offer was unreasonable, the Manager arrived and proceeded to try and tell us how they came to the prices. We explained that we only wanted their final offer. At that point the manager begand to say that was not how he did things and that he would explain his way. My wife told him that she didn't appreciate being treated in such an insulting way by disregarding the customer's wishes, then walked away. The manager turned to me and proceeded to tell me that he was insulted by our conduct. Fairfax Honda tried to cheat us, bully us, then in the end treated us with disdain becuase we knew what we wanted and didn't want the usualy back and forth, "hold on, don't walk out, let me check with my manager". We drove 45 minutes away to Pohanka Honda, where we were treated like valued customers, our offer for trade-in was deemed fair and honest, and the staff were all polite. AVOID FAIRFAX HONDA!!!! I find it an amazing coincidence that all of the 5-star ratings are given in very brief detail and see to follow right after the bad ratings. More
I brought my 2001 Acura here for service a few months ago because it's close to my workplace, even though I usually take it to another dealer. They assured me that even though they are a Honda dealership th because it's close to my workplace, even though I usually take it to another dealer. They assured me that even though they are a Honda dealership they service Acuras as well. The service manager, Clark Speaker, was very friendly and personable. However, he tried to tell me that the 105,000 mile service that I had done at the other dealership had never been done. He said he could tell that the spark plugs had not been replaced, and that the timing belt/water pump had not been replaced. I told him it had been done 4 months prior, and that I had the paperwork from the other dealer. Apparently the spark plugs are an easy thing to check, and when Clark did, he backtracked and said he was wrong, they had been replaced, but he had made a mistake because the "engine was so dirty." He still insisted that the timing belt/water pump hadn't been replaced (which apparently is not possible to tell for sure without doing several hours of labor) and tried to get me to have it done again at his dealership! Basically, he was just trying to get me to pay for unneccessary service. Very disappointing. More
During the day, I dealt with Christopher Pugh on the phone who handed me off to John Winkfield. I wanted a particular color blue that was supposed to be transferred from a sister store. I was told it wo phone who handed me off to John Winkfield. I wanted a particular color blue that was supposed to be transferred from a sister store. I was told it would be transferred and I could come in after it arrived. A couple of hours later I was told that if I went to the dealership, then they would get the car. After being at the dealership for an hour while John dealt with other people, I was told that I had to do all of the purchase paperwork before they would go get the car. That was not what I was told on the phone. After these repeated lies designed to make me buy a car sight unseen, I left in complete disgust. I was going to be a repeat customer, but I'm not. Neither my husband nor I appeciated being treated like we were just people off the street when we had bought a car from them before. We went to a different dealership last night - not the sister - and bought exactly the Insight EX we wanted at a better price than was offered. That dealership also sold us the XM radio shown in the Honda book of dealer-installable accessories, unlike the Fairfax manager who said we had to go to Best Buy. More
