It's usually right up there with going for a root canal or an insurance seminar. Car salesmen are often reviled, and viewed as predatory vultures who've had their ethics removed. When I was contacted by Currie Motors in response to a finance inquiry through a third-party lender, that was what was expected as that was the experience during previous visits to dealerships. What happened was the exact opposite. I was met by the person who had contacted me (Joyce) and cordially greeted. Almost immediately, the salesperson also greeted me. His name is James Salmi. James took the time to ask me what I wanted, rather than tell me what he wanted me to buy. His focus was on my needs, and price range. And, he knocked it out of the park with the very first swing, a 2012 Ford Fusion. He accompanied me on a lengthy test drive, pointed out and explained the various features, and at no time pressured me one iota. He even went so far as to set up my phone connection, and preset the radio. Of course, he didn't have to do this, but did so with a smile. He also provided me with the ownership and service record for the vehicle. He was professional from start to finish. The second person I'd like to mention is Adam Hernandez, the finance manager. He made sure that I knew exactly what the terms of the agreement were, explaining in detail the warranty coverage and finance terms, to name just two. Adam was also very professional, and, like James, applied no pressure to try and push me into a coverage package I did not need or want. The detail person, Ithink his name is Mike, made sure that the car looked great. The whole process took four hours, which was both expedient (in car buying time-it can take much longer) and an actual pleasure. Yes, I said it, a pleasure. Not only will I recommend Currie Motors, and James in particular, I will return there in a few years for my next purchase. I had some pretty serious issues with an F150 I bought from the previous owners and Currie stepped up to the plate and made everything right. The General Manager, Leo Sfikas is one-of-kind, a consummate professional and an individual who genuinely cares about his customers. Unlike other "car salesmen" who treat you like just another "sale," Leo treats you with respect and a friendly manner that simply can't be faked. Dealing with Leo is like dealing with an old and treasured friend. Leo went above and beyond the call of duty in restoring my faith in Ford Motor Company and in helping me locate the new truck I wanted. The atmosphere inside the Valpo Currie dealership is warm and friendly, no "pushy" hard sell going on there... everyone says "Hi" with a smile and the folks we dealt with were all extremely friendly and helpful. Our salesman, a fine young man named Justin Pomeroy, is just the epitome of what you would want from a car salesman, knowledgeable, very polite, extremely helpful, not pushy or disingenuous... he really is a great guy who actually goes that extra mile for his customers. Justin made our purchase a smooth, painless process and I would highly recommend him to ANYONE looking to buy a vehicle. Mike Ramadan and Adam Hernandez both deserve giant kudos for going out of their way to help us with our selection process and in whipping out all the paperwork. Both are stand-up guys who were a pleasure to meet and work with. So, in summation, Currie Motors in Valparaiso, IN, really is THE place to go if you want to buy a vehicle and not have to deal with those "stereotypical" used car salespeople we all cringe at. The entire staff seems to exist for one reason: to make your transaction as smooth, comfortable and easy as possible and to make sure you walk out that door happy. (And, when I needed a few minor things after our purchase they were right on top of that too!) I don't hand out praise easily, but these folks deserve it and so much more. She was very honest in answering my questions if she didn't know the answer she found out for me. Never pretending she knew it all. I feel I had my own personal shopper with work and being without a car from an accident I'm so grateful for all the work Marisela did for me. I have had follow up phone calls from the manager as if we were family. I know if I go into the showroom months from now everyone will greet me with smiles, and some will greet me by my first name.
