Please correct us if we are wrong, but you had the original repair performed at a local repair shop and not our dealership. After you discovered that the local repair shop had not corrected the issue you were experiencing, you brought it to our dealership for a second opinion. Since then, we have diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts needed to correct the issue. We hope you understand that our dealership cannot control issues such as waiting times for parts to arrive. We aim to have your Jeep up and running as quickly as possible. You are correct and I apologize. My Jeep suffers from inability to shift out of 1st gear. A common trait of this model over the years from what I read on the Forums. Cookville Transmission changed the shift controller, then the wiring harness, then the computer, and troubleshot manually for several hours - to no avail. Only thing left was the transmission itself, so, they installed a rebuilt Jasper Transmission. After paying $5800, my Jeep still won't shift. Your dealership was kind to take it in, diagnose and recommend a new OEM trans controller. Unfortunately, the wait for the part will be several months (It's a Mercedes transmission). This Jeep is how I get in/out of my remote cabin. And winter is almost here with snow and ice that will leave me stranded. I am old, sick, frustrated and now becoming scared. I can't afford a new car after pumping several thousand into this one. Everything I have read indicates there is a myriad of possibilities beyond a new controller. For example, one mechanic suggested the magnets in the shifter lever dropped and need to be placed back into position. Simple as that. Also, the transfer case switch, torque converter and several other parts are also named as past culprits. I'm simply asking the dealership to actively participate in getting my Jeep back in service quickly as possible. If that means aftermarket parts, I'm open to that. Sending out a survey before the work is done was tacky and I responded negatively. I am sorry for the hurried, frustrated, response. Hopefully somebody will read this and care enough to help...
