"Certified Pre-Owned" is Questionable For those who don’t have the time or patience to read the details, here’s a summary: 1. Pro - I was happy with Brandon, the sales consultant I worke For those who don’t have the time or patience to read the details, here’s a summary: 1. Pro - I was happy with Brandon, the sales consultant I worked with and think he did as much as he could throughout my experience to smooth things out. 2. Con – CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED IS QUESTIONABLE. One of their master level mechanics missed a damaged exhaust system plainly visible to the naked eye. Vehicle was not properly aligned. The used vehicle manager signed off on the checklist BEFORE the mechanic who did the inspection. 3. Con - They totally dropped the ball on finishing the repair of my newly purchased CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED vehicle on time, and on top of that were not proactive in notifying me of the delay. My experience with Crown Nissan started off well but only went downhill from there. I stopped in to look at a 2012 Certified Pre-Owned Murano on a Friday night and wound up making an offer that was accepted just before close. Rather than staying another 2-3 hours to complete the paperwork, I was able to take the vehicle home that night and finish everything the next day. Things went smoothly up to that point and I was very happy with the sales consultant and the dealer. The next morning however, I noticed that one of the exhaust pipes wasn’t aligned with the molding on the bumper; the alignment was so far off that anyone could have noticed and a mechanic doing a CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED inspection would have to be blind to miss it. Upon further inspection underneath the car, I found there were holes in the muffler where the pipe had been torn away and the pipe running from the front of the car to the muffler was crimped, hanging lower than it should have and had a bracket that was unattached. When it was put on the lift at the dealer, the mechanic immediately said it would need to be replaced, which Crown Nissan agreed to do. During this time, I also found out that 2 of the wheels were out of alignment, which is also on the checklist. Somehow this and the exhaust passed the CERTIFIED Pre-Owned inspection, which was apparently done by a master level mechanic according to the general sales manager. On top of all that, the used vehicle manager had signed off on the inspection BEFORE the mechanic. I was told that the parts would be in on Tuesday and the vehicle would be ready to pick up on Wednesday. However, the hours passed on Wednesday and finally at 3:30 I had to call since I hadn’t heard anything. I was told that they would check on the status and would call me back, which I figured would be 5-10 minutes. An hour later, I called back since I still hadn’t heard anything and finally found out they needed it for another day. Disappointed it had to be fixed in the first place. Disappointed they missed the completion date. Disappointed that the communication about the repair was not proactive. Actions speak louder than words. More
