Dear MDX Owner, Thank you for expressing your concerns. We value the opinion of our customers and always do our best to address them. Many dealerships across the country utilize BG products for the value and protection BG has provided automobiles for the last 47 years. BG automatic transmission fluids are professionally tested, safe for use, and compatible with existing vehicles manufactured domestically and internationally. BG’s full synthetic ATF meets or exceeds the performance requirements for most manufacturer automatic transmission fluids, including Honda and Acura ATF-Z1, when used as directed. WE offer BG ATF as an option to our customers because, when used as directed, it extends a transmission’s coverage beyond the manufacturer’s coverage, providing extra protection and value to our customers. The BG automatic transmission fluid exchange option is solely at the vehicle owner’s discretion and is not offered as a manufacturer requirement or recommendation. Regarding your reference to a previous run in with Crown, it is standard industry practice to check fluid levels, and condition, during a multi-point inspection and is a service we provide to all of our customers. Additionally, you refer to a flush being recommended. We do not perform transmission flushes, the service we provide is a transmission fluid exchange. John Schnepp, 1) When a customer calls in and talks to a service advisor, asking for the transmission maintenance service, he/she isn’t given an option. We are told that Crown “does a complete flush”. We are then highly discouraged from the Acura recommended maintenance service of a drain/fill when we state that we only want what Acura states should be done to our vehicle. 2) you absolutely do transmission flushes, to suggest otherwise is an outright lie. As stated, your service department begins by stating they “perform transmission flushes” at Crown. Further, when asked about the flush details, we are told that you “perform a power flush with a machine”. Lastly, I am familiar with the BG flush machine..... you absolutely do flushes and you sell power flushes, with third party fluids and additives as a regular Acura approved maintenance item for the code 3 Maintenance Minder service. 3) As stated earlier, Acura and Honda clearly state that a one time drain/fill is the recommended service, and no other fluid should be used in the transmission. Acura and Honda further state that no additives are to be used in the transmission; and flushes are not recommended, should not be performed, can do more harm than good, and should never cost more than the recommended service as “it provides no added benefit”.

Dear MDX Owner, Thank you for taking the time to talk with me the other day by phone regarding your review. We take all customer concerns seriously and always do our best to reach an amicable understanding. It is our dealership’s practice to encourage factory recommended maintenance, and to also recommend additional beneficial services. Regarding the BG ATF fluid exchange doing more harm than good, as mentioned previously, the BG ATF product meets or exceeds the performance requirements for transmission fluids, including Acura’s ATF-Z1. And, since it comes with the BG Lifetime Protection Plan®, it definitely adds value and benefit by its use. Our practice is to use the description BG Trans Fluid “Exchange”, not “Flush”, and our repair orders are programmed to print “BG Trans Fluid Exchange” as the description of the service operation. However, to ensure that your account of what took place during your conversation does not reoccur, we will use your review as a training opportunity to provide focus on this particular matter, and additionally, during regular reviews of our inbound calls for quality and training purposes, we will monitor calls to ensure the proper verbiage is used to describe the ATF fluid exchange. 1) no, you absolutely do not encourage factory maintenance. You encourage flushing, under power, with 3rd party additives and 3rd party fluids. 2) “At Crown we do a full flush under power” - Bart Bartly, Service Consultant. 3) The BG video you like so much, shows the flushing machine. You are outright lying to suggest you don’t flush. 4) As to the “meets or exceeds” BG service, Acura/Honda disagrees with you..... and so does the owner’s manual. Both specifically state that ONLY Acura OEM fluid is to be used. The service bulletins state that flushes (which you perform) can cause more harm than good and should not be performed. They also address warranty loss when using 3rd Party fluids like BG.
