While we try our very best to provide our customers with excellent customer service we unfortunately do not control the value of vehicles. Mr. Gates picked out a vehicle off our wholesale lot that was a car scheduled to go to the auction. He asked that we clean it up and he would return the following day with his wife to purchase. Upon returning Mr. Gates decided he wanted to continue to negotiate a car that we were already selling below wholesale value. We gladly would have stood behind our word as it obviously makes no sense why we would qoute a price and then the following day change our mind. Mr. Gates requested that not only we reduce our price more but in addition wanted us to replace and repair several items which we would have gladly done at his expense. We explained on our wholesale vehicles that we did nothing more than a Safety inspection and if he wanted additional services performed they would come at an additional expense. He thought it was necessary on a vehicle that we were losing money to sell that it should be repaired on our dime as well. Unfortunately it just doesn't work that way. Had we decided to keep the vehicle it would have gone through a complete retail inspection and the price could not have been negotiated to a point he was comfortable paying. He knew that and was the reason this car was so desirable to him. Yet he insisted after the terms and figures were agreed upon to make additional requests that we refused due to the fact that he was well informed that he was buying the vehicle as is. We typically do not make a habit of selling vehicles that are several years old and over 100k miles but were willing to make an exception due to the fact that he was okay with assuming that risk. I am sorry that the transaction did not go through but think it's only fair that if you are going to tell a story to tell the whole story.

Here is a qoute from an email that Frank Gates sent to us after the fact. "When we went inside, Brian started pushing to get me to make an offer. I requested that the balding tires needed to be replaced, the windshield needed to be replaced, the jack was missing parts and the vehical needed to be cleaned up before I would make an offer. We bantered back and forth awhile and I made an offer to Brian of $8K and they would fix the aforementioned items. Brian went to present the offer to Chris Chiv. Chris Chiv came over and said he couldn't sell the vehicle for $8K plus fix the above items. He said they would meet in the middle of his earlier offer and sell it for $8800 and replace all of the needed items." and then another qoute "I took it for a drive to show the wife, and she agreed we should get the suv. During the test drive I found out the A/C and heat were all going through the defrost and could not get it to work out of the other vents. Brian took it around in the shop and had someone looking at it." Once we determined what it would cost to fix the "additional" items on top of the already lengthy list of items he wanted repaired on this 120k mile vehicle we gave him the price with all repairs. Unfortunately that was not satisfactory and as we mentioned before he expected us to eat the cost. Here is a copy and paste of the wholesale...black book value of this vehicle. Yukon XL 1500 SLT 4D Utility 4WD X-CL: N/A Clean: $12,900 Avg.: $10,100 Rough: $7,950 As you can see we were offering him the car for $1000 less than the Average wholesale with repairs. I would have sold it to him at Rough book at $7950 (which the vehicle had it's fair share of issues but for a 120k mile vehicle I would say it was in at least average condition) if he would have taken it as is and assumed the responsibility of buying a vehicle that age and that many miles.

I can see that this is obviously becoming counter productive. My initial response was to point out the FACTS of the sale, not to point fingers and call people "liars". I am sorry that you could not buy this vehicle for what you wanted to pay and have the repairs performed. In the future we will try to make that even more clear so that we don't end up in this situation again. In all honesty I don't think in your case it would have mattered anyway because you were determined to buy this vehicle and are probably upset you let a GREAT deal get by you. I wish you the best of luck finding the automobile that fits your needs and your budget. Unfortunately ours just didn't. Best Regards.

On a final note I'm disappointed to see that you changed your initial rating on the friendliness of our staff and the price of our vehicle. What does that say about your character?

Well, Im back just a few short months later, and boy has my mind changed about this dealership. I have an attorney involved, the State of Texas involved, I just called and email Volvo Corporation but should have known they would be be of no help. I drove off the lot not knowing that this car I just purchased had a bogus inspection done, it didn't have brake lights, the head lamp wasnt working, I now have a leak in my heater core.. I took it back because I was smart enough to purchase a warranty but the service team there sure doesn't know what they are doing, they "can't find anything wrong" I would be happy never seeing this place again, but until they make this right I will be right on the coat tails of everyone in that dealership. No one has the courtesy to call anyone back, or fix an issue. I have proof that that the car wasn't inspected correctly. All the sudden they want to say they put new brakes and tires on the car before they sold it, funny how previously I spoke with someone in service and they never said so, the Dodge place they sent my vehicle to, because they couldn't fix it, says the brakes only have 50 % left on them.. someone isn't telling the truth someone. Dishonesy dealer, they have no morals and will take advantage of you if they are still up and running after the state investigates. All I asked was that they make things better. Now I want them to take the junk they sold me back, return my money and what you show on my paperwork you gave for my trade and I will go away!!

CarnTx, I understand that you are frustrated but you are upset with the dealership over things that are out of our control. You stated that you were happy and would recommend us in your original review and then changed your mind over items that were broken on your vehicle which we cannot find any problem what so ever with. We gave you a complimentary car to drive and kept the car here multiple days to check and re-check issues that honestly now I don't believe were ever real problems. The indication to the dealership on your last visit is that you wanted us to trade you out of this car into another car. We even tried that to keep you 100% satisfied (like your original visit) but unfortunately for private reasons that I will not disclose we could not do that. I'm sorry again that you are upset with the dealership but I feel we have done all we can do to make you happy.
