I've been servicing my Lexus at Ray Catena in Westchester, and Lexus of Northborou Is no stars and option? Negative stars? Ok, I'll settle for one. I've been servicing my Lexus at Ray Catena in Westchester, and Lexus of Northborough for 5 years, and LOVED their service. Detailed, caring, transparent, and reasonably priced. After moving to CT, and being charged over $200 for an oil change at New Country Lexus, I drove all the way to New Haven for my 90,000 mile service. The service rep (Tanya) verbally told me all the things they'd work on. Since I was close to 100,000 miles, she added that in as well. Rather than a printed out estimate I was accustomed to getting, she scribbled down a bunch of numbers with a magic marker on a "work order" and told me the 90,000 mile service would come to $159, and the 100,000 mile service would be $220. I asked her to have them thoroughly check to see if there was any warranty work that needed to be done, since I was near the 100,000 mile cut off, and to specifically check the hybrid battery that I had issues with. She told me to sign the work order, gave me no copy or documentation, and sent me off with a loaner. She called the next day to say I'd need brakes soon, and the total would be $1,100, so I declined the brakes. I went right after work to pick up my car (figuring about $400). Their posted hours for service are until 6 during the week, so I got there at 5:45 so I could sit down with the service rep to talk about what they did, what they found, the usual I expect at the end of a service visit. Service was closed, and they sent me to a receptionist who gave me a bill for $500 that indicated all they did was engine coolant and brake fluid. For $500. I expect to pay a lot more at a dealership, because you get a lot more - better service, thorough documentation, and a knowledgeable, trustworthy advisor. I paid 2 1/2 times market rates and got nothing. No documentation, and a bill $120 over the verbal estimat. The sales manager there that night (who was very polite professional, helpful) told me to take the loaner home, call service the next morning to sort out the bill, and they would deliver my car to me and pick up the loaner. When I called Tanya the next morning, she told me my bill should have been $545, (not the $380 we discussed when I dropped it off), and $500 was a "deal". She then put the service manager on the phone (presumably to help me?) who said "I heard everything, when are you coming to pick up your car and give me my loaner back? I've got nothing else to say" Guess he dropped out of charm school. No documentation, and now have to pay $500 for $200 worth of service, if I ever want to see my car again. (sounds like a bad kidnapping note). Next time my Lexus needs service, I'll drive back to Westchester. Ray Catena is worth the trip. More
