Only later did we find out that they were being deceptive about not telling us what the maintenance schedule was for that vehicle (apparently major maintenance is due every 60k miles- which is way more often than most cars so it didn't even occur to us to check ourselves.) After inquiring about a squeaky timing belt several times and being told that it was fine, our timing belt broke and badly damaged the engine at just under 80k. Since we had not done the 60k mile service (we hadn't been informed) the work didn't fall under our purchased warranty. We went ahead and bit the bullet to have our car fixed. This is seriously a maximum of 15 hours work but Courtesy Ford had our car for 3 and a half weeks. Never really telling us what was going on, always promising it would be done in 2 more days at the latest. They never called me when promised. I called David every single time before he called me. He never knew what was going on with our car and had to call me back, which he never did and I would have to call him back at the end of the day when he would often dodge my call. We were never offered a loaner car. When I asked about it after being stranded at home for 2 weeks, David said that yes we could get one. Later I was told by a different customer service representative that they went far above and beyond in service since they really aren't supposed to rent cars to non-ford cars (in spite of the fact that our warranty was with them.) After all this was finally over, our bill was 15% higher than the high end of the estimate we were given and our Sante Fe was now having new and troublesome problems never experienced before. When I inquired about this, I was told in no uncertain terms that it could not have been due to their work (even though none of these problems existed before they had our car for most of a month.) In the end, we drove to Ron Tonkin Honda and traded our Sante Fe in (at a loss no less) just so we could deal with a dealership that actually does good work, informs customers about what is being done, and is honest. Never use this dealership. They are fraudulent and shoddy. More
