Once Burned Twice Shy I previously wrote a positive review about this dealership regarding the purchase of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in 2016, even though the salesman, Matt I previously wrote a positive review about this dealership regarding the purchase of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in 2016, even though the salesman, Matt Hoople, misrepresented the facts about its mechanical condition. I have no personal vendetta against Mr. Hoople, but he should have been more forthright about how he presented the vehicle as I will explain later. As a consumer I know there are inherent risks with any used vehicle. However, in talking with Mr. Hoople, by the nature of our conversation, I felt very confident I would be purchasing a dependable vehicle. You can choose to believe me or not. But I will be specific about what was said and you can judge for yourself (based on my recall of course). So, I asked Mr. Hoople, "what about the ticking noise?", "Oh, this engine does that, just needs an oil change". " Outside of changing the fluids and replacing the sway bar links and engine mounts, this car is in good mechanical condition," says he. Well, that's when I feel he crossed the line. The car was actually in very bad mechanical condition as I was soon to find out. In all fairness now, Mr. Hoople did inform me that Courtesy Chrysler and Jeep does not do a thorough inspection on used vehicles before selling them. So then, how does Mr. Hoople know the car is in "good mechanical condition"?! That's my question. I'm not some curmudgeon with an axe to grind. In fact, I wrote a very positive review (Oct 30, 2016) when the Sales Manager, Mr. Balkema, offered to either take the car back or split the costs on fixing the engine in 2016. I opted to replace the #3 injector, replace the rocker arm assemblies and split the repair bill. But here's my beef. Not only did I have engine problems at the time but I also had severe engine cradle rot. I am told my vehicle is dangerous to drive. I don't put many miles on the car and I was unaware about this issue until it was pointed out to me after an oil change. Unbeknownst to me, this has been a major issue with 2004-2006 Pacificas. Except for a small window of 2-3 months, Chrysler has steadfastly refused to issue a recall and fix the problem. I called Tom Williams in the service department and repair costs are at least "a couple grand". Sooo, is it reasonable for me to expect Mr. Hoople to be truthful about the mechanical condition of the vehicle? Should I have crawled under the vehicle to check the subframe for rot? Was my experience with Mr. Hoople an aberration or are there other potential customers out there unwilling to voice a complaint? That's your call. Personally, I'm convinced that I was not treated with the kind of integrity that one should expect from a Chrysler dealership. Dcsarver More
Leasing made easy I was in the Grand Rapids area with my sister waiting to fly out the next day. I was in the market for a Jeep as my current lease was almost up so m I was in the Grand Rapids area with my sister waiting to fly out the next day. I was in the market for a Jeep as my current lease was almost up so my sister and I decided to take a look at Courtesy Chrysler and maybe take a test drive. We met with salesman Jonathan Mello and he immediately made us feel comfortable asking questions and showing us vehicles I may be interested in. As I was leaving the next day and would be out of Michigan for a week I couldn't continue dealing with Jonathan but when I returned he was quickly in contact and we were able to work out a deal that I was very happy with. I had several questions along the way and he always got back to me very promptly. He carried through with instructions for all the great features on my new Jeep and gave me a tour of the service area. I would definitely recommend Jonathan to anyone looking for a new vehicle (my sister will be going to him). He was very knowledgeable and friendly! More
