An absolutely awful car buying experience My experience is long and painful. I will make it as concise as possible. I wanted to buy a new vehicle because my old vehicle was 10 years old and I felt it was time to upgrade. I went to Courtesy Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Tampa on Adamo in Brandon. When we finally negotiated a price for the car I was told explicitly that my price of 28,800 for the Pre-certified Jeep Grand Cherokee would be my out the door price with only taxes and tag fees. I was told numerous time by the salesperson that I would NOT incur a dealer fee as the other place I was looking, offlease only, did not charge dealer fees. So that was one of my main differences in cost. She told me at least 4 to 5 times I would be at 28,800 without a dealership fee. That was a lie. When I arrived on site not only did they extremely undervalue my trade in at approx 2800 for a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 with only 90,000 miles on it which every site I checked told me it was worth 4200 on the low end and 6000 on the high end but they also had that exact dealership fee on there I was promised would not be. 700 dollars. At this point I was extremely frustrated because I felt deceived and she tried to spin it with language as they did the rest of my experience for how it made sense but just not to me. How the number had to be here but couldn't be there and vice versa. that it was a discount of 28,800 because they removed that cost up top but had to have it at the bottom. Just a straight out lie that brought my final price to 29,500 before any taxes, fees, or plate fees. And I was told that Kelley Blue book had no idea what cars were worth because "they have never sold a car". When I wouldn't agree to the mis advertisement I was given the salesperson just up and left leaving me in the dealership right where I stood. I left and called and spoke to a manager who said they would look into the dealership fee and get back to me the following day. That did not happen. So I called back the next day to see why I had not received a call and guess who answers the phone? The same salesperson with quite the attitude that I had tried to go above her to get an answer on the lie I was told. At this point I felt awkward and changed the conversation to APR rates. I told her what I had been QUOTED from a few sources using lending tree and she came up with a monthly payment. When I arrived on site the same day to talk about getting the car again I eventually agreed, although unhappy about the difference in prices from the previous day. I was shoveled paper after paper to sign without any explanation of what it was. Ill take responsibility for not slowing her down and forcing an explanation before signing but a little more professionalism would have been appreciated here especially after what had already happened. I wait almost an hour to see a finance person. She leaves before I get in. When I do get in the finance guy asks for my pre-approval for the % I had told her I had been quoted but not officially given. So he was told by the salesperson that I was already pre-approved for this %. So at this point Im freaking out because the % could be totally different than what I thought and I had already signed the paperwork on the car. It ends up being pretty close. So then I am talked to about a warranty. I was told from the salesperson that I had a full warranty for a certain amount of time and miles and that was why I should buy there. When the guy talks to me about the warranty he tells me the basic one i have will basically cover nothing and that without this warranty I will end up paying alot more down the line. I am not even given the price of the actual warranty. I am told that if I get the warranty that somehow someway he can get the cost per month to be the same by getting a lower apr if i sign up with a credit union and if i get the warranty. Why should me getting a warranty or not effect what my % is from the bank? It shouldn't. And it didn't. Because we never even ended up going with that "new credit union" that would get me a lower % for the warranty. It was the original loaner that had already given me the % before any talk about warranty, Bank of America. Come to find out the warranty was an extra 3000 dollars approx. At this point I am just so tired of everything literally and figuratively that I just close the deal and leave. Over the next week I realize that the car is not operating correctly. In its automatic downshifting it is jumping, jerking, and struggling to find the right gear, in the lower gears. So I come in several times to figure out the issue and what it is and why I am having these issues. Two times i go in and they say a software update will fix it and that everything is fine. Guess what? It doesn't work. The car does the exact same thing it did before the other times I took it in. Eventually the head service guy goes for a ride along where I come to find out that this is "just how the car runs" and that they knew of the issue beforehand but I was never told. That there is no fixing the issue until they come out with an update. I say I cannot deal with it and that I want out of the car. The head GM now gets involved and promises me a solution and that I should come in that day and he would sit down with me. When I arrive a second person in charge hands me off to a salesperson who attempts to help me. This was the only decent person I dealt with at the dealership so I will mention his name. Joseph. He tried to help get a solution and get into a new car. Which is eventually what I did. A car that was listed 2000 dollars less according to their MSRP's on the website and somehow I end up leaving only paying 500 dollars less. After a long talk about how my 4000 dollar down payment was integrated into the warranty and again trying to confuse me (not Joseph, but the new finance person) I end up with a price that is only 500 dollars less than what I paid and I have no idea whether my down payment was actually applied to the new car or not. Just alot of talk and attempt at confusion but all I saw were bottom lines. And I was paying 500 dollars less for a car that was 2000 less in value. The best explanation i got of this was that I was having to pay the dealership fee, taxes, title, transfer fees AGAIN. For a mistake that was not mine...I was sold a car that did not operate properly but somehow i was trading it in even though it was a week later after getting a bad car so i had to pay for all of that again. There goes my 1500 dollars. So once again it is late into the night and I say forget it and just sign and eat the 1500 dollar loss. Praying for it all to be over I have my new car even though I lost money and guess what? They keys dont work properly on a BRAND NEW CAR. It will only lock and unlock if you are standing directly next to the door. So I text Joseph and let him know the issue and I come in today, 10/24 to have it addressed. Joseph sees that the keys dont work exactly as I described and we get the batteries replaced as he believes thats what it is. The service tech replaces both batteries and I go back out to test it. SAME THING. The keys will not unlock or lock the car unless your right next to it. So I go back in and get the guy who had just changed my batteries and show him and he sees the issue exactly as I state it as well. I am then told that he is going to get with some people to have me come back in for the 100th time to have it addressed. That is where I stand today. Having lost more time, money, patience, and everything else than you could imagine. There is more to this story and I dont even have the effort to type it all out but I want people to know what I have dealt with since going to this dealership and to beware of falling into the same headaches. Where I go from here I do not know. But I felt an obligation to let everyone know who is in the market for a new car. More
Worst service I've had at a dealership! I've owned a lot of vehicles over the years as we all have and have been to a lot of dealerships for service work. The lies and second class treatmen I've owned a lot of vehicles over the years as we all have and have been to a lot of dealerships for service work. The lies and second class treatment I received here are by far the worst I've ever had. It started when I bought my charger. I was never warned about the leaky (I'm guessing after market)sunroof. By the time I realized it was leaking it had ruined the top interior of my car and started to smell like mold. When I brought the vehicle in I was told my platinum extended warranty only covers mechanical issues in sunroofs. Apparently not closing all the way is not a mechanical problem?? When I bought the car I was promised a one time free detail at the time of my choosing. I chose to ask for it the second time I was in for a service issue. The service manager Angelo tells me the dealership no longer details ANY vehicles, which is odd since they take trade ins daily. He says they'll wash and vacuum the best they can. I picked up my car 3 days later ,after an engine and ac fix, only to find out not only did they not wash or vacuum the car but it was dirtier than when I dropped it off. Random objects from glovebox and dash laying in backseat and grease all over my dash and stick shift. Promising things to get people to buy cars and not following through?? Hiding issues with the vehicle? Lying? Sounds like a shady resale lot at best! If I know Florida businesses, and I think I do, they will not even attempt to turn this review around..... Sad! NEVER AGAIN More
Awesome Car Buying Experience! I first found the vehicle I was interested in on Courtesy's website. I sent an email requesting information and within hours I got a response from Dav I first found the vehicle I was interested in on Courtesy's website. I sent an email requesting information and within hours I got a response from David Montes-the Internet Sales Manager and his assistance Grace. My husband and I went to the dealership and met with David he was great! No sales pressure-no pushy sales talk...he listed to what I wanted, took us for a test drive and within no time we were driving off in my new Jeep! Kudos also to Brandon Leiss-the Business Manager- who completed our sale very quickly and professionally, Brandon did not try to push a lot of 'extras' on us, fully explained all the paperwork and was just an overall pleasant guy! I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a great vehicle AND a no hassle, no pressure buying experience to visit Courtesy Jeep Dodge Ram of Brandon! More
Worst service department ever Had an appointment for 12:45 PM for check engine light (second time). Arrived at 12:20 Sevice Manager tells me they are booked and can not tell me whe Had an appointment for 12:45 PM for check engine light (second time). Arrived at 12:20 Sevice Manager tells me they are booked and can not tell me when will be done if at all that same day. When I booked my service appointment I was asked if I was going to wait and I said yes. So waste of time and money driving to and from the dealer because at the end, they didn't know when they could take my car for service and offer to reschedule, why take appointment then?. Reschedule for what ? They do not honor previous appointment schedules and customers time does not means squat to any service member. 7 out 10 times i go to this place for service is some issue. And the wait times are insane. So if are forced to take your car here and wait good luck to you. Else stay away. Will not buy any more Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in the future since the service is horrendous. The nearest Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer for me is 40 minutes away. Seem like all service managers at this place have the same attitude. They can care less about customer satisfaction. I am forced on this review to select a name of an employee. So I will pick anyone from the Other category. But i did not dealt with any of them. Note there is no Service employee list. You wonder why. More

My dodge ram developed "the death wobble" in the steering. I took it to these guys, waited 45 minutes for help at the service desk & explained the problem. I left the truck. Three days later they called saying the needed to replace the entire steering assembly, everything at the mere cost of $5,500. Obviously the mechanic couldn't diagnose the cause of the problem so he thought he would play it safe & replace EVERYTHING. I drove the truck home the 600 plus miles not exceeding 65 mph ( very hard thing for me to do) and took the truck to my local, trusted mechanics. The repair & fix cost me $1300. $4200 less. These guys are real pro's. I think their motto is CYA. May be expensive to consumer but you don't really need to be a mechanic, just a fitter. They also wanted me to pay them for the diagnosis. I refused as I had never agreed to pay that & it was never mentioned So the GM asked me to call him in his response, which I did. I ended being asked my name which he probably didn't know then after 10 minutes on hold he wasn't there for me. Could have predicted that........... More
