Mediocre. Poor Customer Service. I have 3 years experience as a professional performance driver. That said, I have gone through several pairs of brakes (and tires) at a rate faster than a normal driver. Besides that, I've been driving on the roadway for nearly 10 years. So, I can tell when my brakes are going bad. I scheduled an appointment with Corwin to have my brakes and oil done. I only scheduled with them because I didn't have the time to do it myself and needed it done that weekend. When I called to schedule the appointment, I told the scheduler I was experiencing brake fade and needed new pads. They said they didn't know what that meant. I told them, "My car is not stopping like it is supposed to. I need your mechanics to change the brakes pads." They scheduled me for that thing and told me it would take an hour and a half to two hours to do both oil and brakes. Upon taking the car in, the desk guy tried telling me I didn't need the brakes done. (The car was still in the parking lot, untouched since I parked it.) I told him that based on my training and experience, I knew they needed to be changed and asked that they just do it. He insisted that he would be the judge of that, that they would do the oil and then tall to me about the status of my brakes. They didn't start on my car until about 35 minutes after the scheduled time of the appointment. They did as they said they would. And, when they contacted me about the brakes, they told me the front were at about 20% left and the rear at about 50% left, and recommended having the front brakes done. (No, duh! That's what I told them.) Oddly enough, they insisted they were not going to do the rear pads. (Strange. ¿?) Furthermore, it took them 3 1/2 hours to do a job they said would take half that time. Definitely, not my preferred place to have work done. At least they did it. They were just arguementative and slow about doing it. More

First let me say that that I am a “ This review is in response an email request to review a recent service experience at Corwin Ford in Pasco, WA. First let me say that that I am a “Ford Person.” My Dad was a mechanic/machinist and I grew up in a family that owned Fords. My first car was a 1968 Ford LTD. I bought a Taurus when they first came out in 1994. I also bought a 2004 and 2008 Taurus among other Fords. I also have a used F-150 that I would like to replace soon. My 2008 Taurus is the car I take out of town, mostly to very important doctor appointments twice a month. Last summer the transmission started “harshly” shifting and I had it towed to the nearest Ford Dealer (not Corwin Ford) and they replaced the OSS and TSS sensors. This started as a mild symptom, but then became very harsh or “violent” as described by the mechanic that repaired it. Unfortunately, the problem started again a couple of months ago, luckily with just mild symptoms and the check engine light has not been on. But I am trying to be proactive to get the problem solved before I break down out of town again. So I took it to the local dealer, Corwin Ford. The service representative and others put 100 miles on the car over a weeks time, and he told that they did feel a “harsh” (his word) transmission shifting. However, he did not use the word “harsh” in his write up but instead used the words “firm shift under load.” But then, the rep only offered an estimate $450 to open it up to “look” at the valve bodies and another estimate of $1600 to repair the valve bodies......but it doesn’t have any valve body symptoms. On the Ford Forum website the listed “bad valve body symptoms” are 1) knocking noises, 2) slippage, 3) difficulty in downshifting, or 4) delay in shifting. None of which are “harsh shifting,” as the Corwin mechanics experienced. However, on the Ford Forum website there are repeated references to “harsh or rough shifting” caused by a bad OSS and TSS sensors. So I tried to compromise with the Serive Rep, I asked that he first replace the OSS and TSS sensor, then if the problem persists, I would have the valve bodies looked at, but he refused. So, I picked up my car and paid my $144 diagnostic fee. Before I brought the car into the shop, I explained on the phone to the Corwin service rep the current symptoms and that I had the sensors replaced last summer which was still under warranty. He response was “it’s not the sensors,” so he already decided before he even looked at or assessed the car in person that he would not do the work under the warranty. Based on the history of this car and the current symptoms, there are reasons and evidence to replace the OSS and TSS sensors, and no current evidence to look at valve bodies. In retrospect, I should have not told the Service Rep that I had the OSS and TSS sensors replaced last year, and he would have come to this conclusion on his own, but I wanted to be up front and provide as much information as possible to get my car back on the road as quickly as possible. Replacing the sensors might not be billable in the short term, but would certainly give me and my family/friends confidence in Corwin Ford for future repairs and auto purchases. I also tried to make a personal connection with Service Rep explaining that I know people that he knows, like fellow mechanics (my nephew) and another friend who is a Corwin Ford mechanic, but he still would not comprormise with me. So, I am in the worst possible position, I can not risk driving to my out of town appointments without the possibility of another hiway break down, and still had to pay the diagnostic fee. With this kind of customer service I feel like I have no choice but to reluctantly start turning away from Ford and begin looking at Dodge Ram or Toyota pickups, as my friends and family have done. However, I would rather stay with Ford, if they are willing to work with me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide feedback. I do not authorize the disclosure/publishing any personal indentifying information, such as my name or email address in this review. LoyalToFord...? More
