Hi Andrew, we’re very sorry you are unhappy with your experience at Copeland Toyota. I would like to recap your situation to start. During the process of purchasing your vehicle, you sat with our Business Manager Mario and went over all of the aftermarket products and services available to you. During this process all of the stipulations of these products and services were disclosed to you (as is our policy for every customer) including that LoJack is a physical product that cannot be “canceled” as it is actually installed into the vehicle. The $50 cancelation fee for the GAP warranty was also disclosed and is referenced in the contract you signed. We were happy to cancel your GAP warranty within the 30 day period for the disclosed $50 cancelation fee, but unfortunately once LoJack is installed, it cannot be canceled, it must be removed as a separate action which has an associated cost. Thank you for your feedback and please let us know if there is any more information we can provide you with.

Hi JC, we’re very sorry you are unhappy with your experience at Copeland Toyota. I would like to recap your situation to start. On 3/21/12 you purchased a 2001 RAV4 with 91,363 miles on it. On 9/23/14 you brought the vehicle to our service department due to an engine light on your dashboard. After electronically scanning the vehicle, it was discovered that the vehicle was eligible for a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). TSBs are different from recalls as they do not involve safety concerns and involve issues that may not occur in every vehicle making them fully optional. This particular TSB required the replacement of the engine control module (ECM) and/or the replacement of the transaxle. The cost of this TSB repair is covered by Toyota for up to 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of first use of the vehicle. For your RAV4, this period expired on 2/28/09. After you were informed of the TSB information, we recommended that we replace the ECM and perform a transmission flush and then monitor the vehicle. You declined this recommendation. Due to this being a TSB and not a recall, there was no need for the work to be performed before the vehicle was sold because it was running well and showed no signs of a problem. Lastly, at no time did we remove or alter the vehicle’s exhaust system in any way. We hope this clears up your frustrations and we would be happy to provide any additional information you would like.
