Be VERY careful about buying a used car from them. Take it off the lot and have another mechanic check it. They'll tell you it is a solid vehicle and that it is in good running shape, but that is not Take it off the lot and have another mechanic check it. They'll tell you it is a solid vehicle and that it is in good running shape, but that is not always the case. Maybe I am a one off, maybe there are more like me that just don't happen to be able to talk about their situation. I did an even trade with my low mileage Focus for a VERY High Mileage Edge and they told me there were no issues with the Edge at all. I get a call at noon the day we're going to pick up the Edge and told that they needed to replace a blower fan in the car and that it wouldn't be ready until the next day. NO.. I agreed to this car on Saturday, I wasn't going to pick it up until Wednesday and you had already told me that there was nothing wrong with the car, but apparently there was. I told him I had already made arrangements to pick the car up and that I would not be able to alter those arrangements. I would be there to pick it up that afternoon. They got THAT repair done just as my wife and I were pulling in to the lot. Amazing how that worked. Pick up the car, pay the processing fee, swap tags and a car seat for my daughter and we leave, about 3 hours later, the car is in our driveway and the alarm is going off on it. I go out to investigate, nothing wrong. I check the doors, deactivate the alarm, go back inside. 30 minutes later, AGAIN the alarm goes off. So, I go back out and nothing. So, I looked it up on the internet about it, and low and behold there is a KNOWN issue with door sensors, on the drivers side door that cause this. Not a safety issue, so no recall, but, it's still a known issue. SO, we're 5 hours into this now, and I decide to do a little more research, find out some customers report that because of this, their battery goes low or dies because of the sensor keeping things active in the car. So, I go start the car to insure that the battery is okay, and the ENGINE light is on, and it wasn't when we got it. So, I told my wife to call Conklin and tell them what was going on, and this will NOT come out of our pocket to fix, we haven't even had the car 12 hours yet, and all this on a car that was 'MECHANICALLY SOUND'. Well, they told her the next morning to bring it in and they'd look into it. Come to find out that there were, and I quote, "A WHOLE LOT OF ISSUES", yes the sensor is bad in the door, but it's a wear and tear item (Technically it is, but in this case, no it's not). Then the catalytic converter is bad and some sensors too that need to be replaced (the Engine Light issue). I'm like, no, go get our car back I'm done with this. They sold this vehicle as 'IN GOOD WORKING ORDER' "MECHANICALLY SOUND", and neither were true. Now, do I blame the salesman Cal? NO, he did his job, he sold a car based on the information he was given, that it was ready to sell and it was a good car, it was solid and can be sold. Do I blame Management? Absolutely, this type of slick flip the car fast tactic is why car dealerships like this end up getting a bad name. They have the car detailed and call it mechanically sound. When I went to pick up the Edge Wednesday, another couple was swapping out a Ford Expedition for a Chevy Trailblazer, the Explorer was on their webpage before the couple was even off the lot. My car was on their website before we ever turned it in to them and completed our original deal. They don't check the vehicles, they don't insure they are sound, they just detail them, put some paperwork in the window and shoot the dice that the car lasts the initial 60 days for their warranty. BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING FROM CONKLIN CARS, if they do this in Newton, you can be assured they do this at all their lots. Ownership must be aware, because it's a pattern. They should be ashamed. Service on my vehicle began at the time of my appointment. Tires were also checked for need of rotation; it wasn't needed so they didn't do it. Always appreciate the car wash!! appointment. Veterans Beware - DO NOT BUY FROM HERE I have waited a long time to write this review. I wanted to give myself time to cool off before responding. But as time goes on, I find that the service we received long time to write this review. I wanted to give myself time to cool off before responding. But as time goes on, I find that the service we received from Conklin staff was reprehensible and I am not really going to get to a state where I am ok with it. I met with Conklin sales person over a year prior to purchase and told him of my intentions to buy two vehicles from Conklin. I explained to him what I was going to purchase and an approximate time frame of when that would occur. I explained to him in great detail that the CRV hybrid would be a present for my wife and she would not know about the gift. Since the vehicles didn't come at the same time (due to supply chain issues) it wouldn't be a surprise any more but, it would still be a gift for my wife. I kept the salesman well informed and reminded him that this was a gift for my wife. When we came to pick up the first vehicle (Ridgeline Black Edition) I inquired about the veteran’s discount and the loyalty discount, the sales manager and salesman BOTH said Conklin doesn't offer those. Maybe they do, maybe they don't but when I called Honda USA, they said they did. A couple of months later when we came to pick up the CRV Hybrid. The salesman became ruder when I inquired about the veteran’s discount and the loyalty discount again. In front of my wife (which this vehicle was a present for) he stated this is the price we have lots of people that want it. Either take it at the full price or I will sell it to someone else. There is a long line of people that will buy it. It was completely discourteous to say this in front of my wife, knowing full well this was a gift to her. It was the most disgusting exchange of words I have ever witnessed. Additionally, telling me that they would not offer me a veteran’s discount or a loyalty discount again after Honda USA said they should have and I paid the full unnegotiated price on the Ridgeline was completely inappropriate. After the sale the salesman came out to the vehicle to help us set up the amenities of which he knew NOTHING about, thus wasting more of our time. Conklin's disregards veterans and loyal customers. After purchasing several vehicles from Conklin’s, I will never buy another one. More
