I have been to quite a few dealerships and I can honestly say that I have never meet anyone like John Murer. He is extremely knowledgeable and he answered all my questions. My new car experience with Competition was top notch! I am a previous buyer from the competition group and I have to say, their Subaru dealership outdoes their BMW dealership tenfold. My wife and I have a 2 month old , so getting in an out easily was important. We also didn't want to rush things or end up with something we didn't want at a price we didn't want to pay. We got there 1 hour before closing and left with signed bill of sale within 45 minutes. All the new car salespersons were occupied and Ralph, a normal used car salesman, was more than happy to help us out until one was free. He was no nonsense, friendly and respectful to the needs of my wife and daughter since the car was for her. He was so good, we asked if could just deal with him and we did. He did the sale, and another great salesperson, Cathy covered the delivery. Ralph gave me a good deal on our trade-in and walked us through the pricing. We got a good deal and were in and out. My wife and I spent 3x that time in BMW the previous year and got half of the service and savings. Cathy was excellent for the delivery. She explains everything with ease, knows her stuff in and out and is extremely friendly. She too understood our situation having a newborn and we were in and out on delivery day in 30 minutes. We visited several Subaru dealerships on LI before heading to Subaru. They are hands down the best! More
Purchased 2007 Mercedes E350 for $19K. Salesmen stated repairs would be made prior to our pick-up. We drove 2 hours and had to wait over 4 hours for the repairs to be completed (the car was not even clea repairs would be made prior to our pick-up. We drove 2 hours and had to wait over 4 hours for the repairs to be completed (the car was not even cleaned). Upon our arrival we found that the heated seat did not work and was told that they would not fix it. We were told that they performed an oil change and replaced defective tires. After our mechanic looked the car over he found that 1 tire was defective and is a major safety issue. The oil filter was never changed but the oil was? There is also a major oil leak. After numerous emails we have not received any feedback as to wether they woiuld cover the needed repairs. By law the safety repair must be made and as buyers we would expect that a $19,000 car would not leak oil! Still awaiting a response.. More
This dealership is great. Definitely go see either Dave or Jeff. They are very friendly and very helpful. They put absolutely NO pressure on us. By the time we found the car we wanted and discussed a price, color, and options, it was about an hr and a half past the dealers closing time. And they never said anything about it or tried to rush us at all. More

Since my experience with Cathy was so positive the first time I purchased a Subaru, I decided to go to the dealership she is currently at now, Competition Subaru. I was very pleased to see that Cathy's level of customer service and satisfaction are always at the top level. No nonsense, no haggle, and even when I did do a bit of haggling myself, she was quick to work with my budget. Cathy is very professional, but also has a good sense of humor. I would highly recommend Cathy. Even though my request for the Outback Limited in the color I wanted was not on the lot, Cathy located the car I was looking for in a matter of days. She made turning in my leased Subaru a breeze when I was ready to finalize the deal. A pleasure instead of dreading dealing with the typical banter when going to purchase a new car. More
After looking at, researching and test driving many midsize cars....we decided on a Subaru Legacy. Then it was time to pick a dealership...back to the research, internet and word of mouth. We had a car and options in mind...he put it together and we had our car in a few short weeks. Everyone was friendly...answering all our questions..and best of all....no pressure! I recently purchased my 2012 Forester from Cathy @ this dealership and had a great experience. We met a couple of times to discuss my needs (I was turning in a leased vehicle); what I was looking for in a dealership and had a great experience. We met a couple of times to discuss my needs (I was turning in a leased vehicle); what I was looking for in a new one and what I was looking for as far as price was concerned. Once all the decisions were made, they did a search for the vehicle I wanted and the deal was completed. I received a number of follow-up calls to make sure I was happy and the car was as expected. Once I got the car home, a friend stopped by, fell in love with it and I recommended he talk to Cathy about purchasing one himself. As far as the dealership in general is concerned, I was referred there by another friend who did a lot of research and found they had the best prices on Long Island. I will certainly be back when my lease expires. More
