Pleasant Surprise! I took my CRV to Columbia Honda today for maintenance/overall check up. I knew that quite a bit of service was overdue, and I had the fear that the service center might take that as an opportunity to take advantage of me and claim I needed even more work. I was pleasantly surprised when Thomas called to talk through the service needs, carefully giving me costs and telling me what was absolutely necessary, what could wait, and what did not need to be done that I thought might be. Not only did Thomas explain everything to me and why each thing was needed/what effect it has on my car, when I got the call that my car was ready I was notified that he put a 10% discount on my invoice. By this time, Thomas had already left so I couldn't thank him personally, and I have no idea why he gave me the discount. Considering the amount of work I had done the fact that he saved me that extra 10% really meant a lot. Everyone I came in contact with while at Columbia Honda from Thomas and the other service advisers to the cashier and even the parts person that I had a few questions for were FANTASTIC and extremely helpful. I had been taking my car to another service shop for awhile, but I think I will be loyal to Columbia Honda service department for the foreseeable future! More
Poor follow up for recall work Called months ago to set up recall work for a Honda Pilot. After no call back for several months we followed up to confirm if the parts were in that Called months ago to set up recall work for a Honda Pilot. After no call back for several months we followed up to confirm if the parts were in that were ordered 2-3 months ago. We were told the parts were available and scheduled a date for the recall work to be performed. Our family rearranged our schedule and dropped the Pilot off. After being told it would be approximately an hour for the work to be done we left and waited for the call back. After waiting for over an hour we received a call back that we could pick up the Pilot. On arriving at the service center we were told that the parts were not in as we were told and that they never physically checked their inventory when initially setting up the recall work. Instead they relied on their inventory noted on their computer which they also knew was unreliable due to a recent change in owners for this dealership. For wasting our time the service center was not very sincerely apologetic and seemed more apathetic. The service employees did indicate that they would attempt to locate the parts for the recall notice and place us at the front of the line. However by the time this was offered they had already indicated that this happens sometimes and were excusing their lapse of judgment in verifying the parts were available even though they knew there was an issue with their inventory. The attempt to deflect ownership in their mistake rather than take complete responsibility is what prompted me to write this review. More
