I purchased a brand new corvette there two years ago (after test driving it). This dealership seems to be age and/or possibly race profiling when it to me, and that’s likely why the car has sat on their lot for 2 months. I’ll take my business to Nimnicht or Stingray in Central Florida from now on. Marquise seems to be doing only what he is told, this is a management issue, likely why they have such a high turnover rate, moreso than normal DS turnover. More

I was given a quote on how much services would cost once they diagnosed the code for the light and then the other things that were wrong (new tires, alignment, a/c compressor leaking, a/c recharge, and air intake hose replacement). $1880 was what I was quoted. I declined all services other than the oil change because that's more than I could afford at the time. When my car was available for pick up, I was told that the issue that was causing my check engine light to come on (cracked air intake hose) was still under warranty and that the part had been replaced. It is even written on the invoice I received. After I paid for services and left, the light was STILL on and my car was still fairly sluggish on the acceleration. I dismissed it and called my own mechanic because I was concerned. He came out a few days later (5/11/18) and checked under the hood. The air intake hose was never replaced and was cracked in not one, but two places. He replaced the part for me at a fraction of the cost of what I would've had to spend at this dealership. He also said that the other things that I was quoted here were not actually needed (such as my A/C compressor leaking or it needing to be recharged) and that my car, other than that one part, was still in perfect order. There was no trace of the dye used to check for leaks. I will not be returning here for service in the future if this is how the service department acts, lying to its customers about a part being replaced when in actuality it hasn't been. More
Garbage My name is James Hendrickson and If I could give less than 1 star I would. The people were friendly however, I was sold absolute junk!! The vehicle I My name is James Hendrickson and If I could give less than 1 star I would. The people were friendly however, I was sold absolute junk!! The vehicle I purchased was a 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500. First I want to start with even though all the warning signs were there I still bought this vehicle for some stupid reason. I'm not sure if they just have idiot salesmen and mechanics or if they purposefully put crap out on their lot for sale. I guess as long as they make money??? I've had the vehicle for a month and so far have had to replace spark plugs twice and 2 ignition coils because water somehow keeps getting into the ports for the ignition wires. Second, this car has a bent rim and the wheels are obsolete so they offer a $400 check, what am I supposed to do w that? Next, the left side of the exhaust is now hanging off the car and there's bad clutch chatter. Not to mention the clunking sound underneath, who knows what that is!! This is the biggest piece of sh$@ I've ever bought and I wish it was covered under the lemon law or they would just take their garbage back, which was also priced way over fair market value. Again, my mistake for buying this vehicle but it should've never been on the lot. I'd recommend you be very weary about purchasing used from this dealer since they're obviously ok with selling garbage to make a buck!!! More
Lessons I learned buying a car from Coggin Chevrolet #1. Do a thorough vehicle inspection before taking delivery. Given that the vehicle only had 11,000 miles, was certified, and had a clean Carfax r #1. Do a thorough vehicle inspection before taking delivery. Given that the vehicle only had 11,000 miles, was certified, and had a clean Carfax report, before purchasing I was mostly concerned about cosmetic issues. Our sales rep had told us beforehand there were a couple minor scratches, but unfortunately there were other significant issues that weren’t pointed out to me and which I failed to notice during my cursory, 2-minute inspection: water damage in the ceiling at the corners of the sunroof, presumably because it was left open by someone; strange speckles on one piece of the chrome roof rails, a hazy film on the lift gate window and right side of the car; a missing “Traverse AWD” decal on the lift gate (particularly troubling because the listing showed the car as having the decal—where did it go?), misalignment between the left side of the lift gate and the left side of the body of the car, I could go on. I probably would have negotiated harder had I been more observant of the car’s defects. And did I mention to take pictures? If you have proof, you might not get stonewalled when you ask about any of the above items. I know, for example, the decal was missing when I took possession, but because I can’t prove it with pictures, they’re unwilling to investigate why, and by whom, it was removed. Our sales rep claims to have deleted the pictures and videos she took before delivery because of storage constraints on her phone (what’s the point of taking pictures and videos if you don’t archive them?), so make sure to do it yourself. Don’t worry about feeling awkward with the sales rep standing by you. If you’re buying a car from Coggin, you’ll wish you had the backup. #2. Don’t buy a car out-of-state. For so many reasons. One reason is because your return-for-any-reason warranty runs out after about 100 miles or so. If you’re driving across the country, that 100 miles gets used up pretty quick. Another reason is because you lose all negotiating power and the ability to walk away. My inspection was too cursory because I had bought a one-way ticket and flown out to Florida from Texas and knew that, absent some large, unforeseen issue, I was going to buy the car. This was a mistake. A related reason to never buy out-of-state is because you may need an out when the financing department gives you the bait-and-switch. Before I flew out there, Coggin ran my credit, saw that I was in the best credit score tier, and told me they could match the 3.25% APR I had secured with a local credit union. Imagine my surprise when I’ve flown across the country on a Sunday (so my credit union is closed), signed all the paperwork to buy the car, and Joey in the finance department now tells me that “the best they could do” is a 6% APR. Sure, I was able to refinance weeks later but not without incurring an unnecessary documentary stamp tax fee and title transfer fee approaching $200. #3. Check your credit card. When I decided to fly out to buy the car, Coggin took our credit card info to hold the car for us but assured us they wouldn’t actually charge it. It was a formality, they said. Well, weeks later I discovered they did charge the card for a $1000 deposit, but they never applied the deposit toward the purchase of the vehicle, nor did they refund the deposit. It took my own discovery of the charge and a week of text messages and phone calls to the accounting department to finally get the charge reversed. #4. The final lesson—and this is the most important—is a simple one: don’t buy a car from Coggin Chevrolet. The dishonest financing department, the stealth credit card charges, and the thoroughly unhelpful follow-up about various issues will leave you wishing you had purchased a DeLorean instead so that you could go back in time and not purchase a car from Coggin Chevrolet. Wish I could give no stars This dealership what can I say is full of it. Shady salesmen poor customer service and very poor owner response. Service area same response as above This dealership what can I say is full of it. Shady salesmen poor customer service and very poor owner response. Service area same response as above. This dealership (Coggin Chevrolet Phillips hwy) has changed my mind about purchasing a Chevrolet vehicle ever again after 3 decades. Rather not deal with a company that uses people and/or private dealer like this to represent them. Never again More
