This is where you agree on a price and financing, sign the contract, and drive the car home. The deception is that bank financing has not been finalized, so you get a call from the dealer a week or so later saying that the financing was not approved by the bank and you need to come back in to renegotiate. This puts you in a precarious situation because you have the new car but now have to agree to a higher interest rate or a larger down payment in order to keep it. The only other option is to return the car and possibly pay for "renting" it which is not a very fun process. We were completely caught off guard by this scheme and it appears that is illegal in most states but is a fairly common practice in Florida unfortunately. More
