My June 27, 2013, initial Dealerrater.com post states the facts of my experience when I purchased a used car from Cochran's Volkswagen store. Prior to my purchase the sales information contained and the sales staff issued many statements about how they would do all in their power to make my experience with Cochran the best car-buying experience ever. Okay, that's their line. After the sale, when I first brought the described problems with the car to the attention of the Cochran store, the sales personnel adopted a three-point defense: 1) deny everything; 2) accept responsibility for nothing; and 3) blame the customer for anything. Cochran's June 28 and July 16 responses are further reflections of those positions. Only when I escalated my concerns about the car and the treatment I was experiencing by writing to the email address for the Cochran Customer Care office and repeating my initial rating responses from the Dealerrater.com web site did I receive some serious attention. That was the beginning of a new day. Dirk Harper, Cochran's Director of Customer Care, took my concerns seriously, offered no excuses, honored my suggestions and requests for resolution, and placed an entirely new face on Cochran's assurances of customer satisfaction. I am grateful to Mr. Harper for his handling of this matter. I think that he is a great asset to the Cochran organization. Although this entire scenario should never have arisen had the car been properly inspected and prepared before the sale, or had the Cochran Volkswagen personnel taken and addressed my concerns seriously when I initially brought them to Cochran's attention, having Mr. Harper available and willing to handle the matter as he did enabled me to reach a satisfactory resolution with Cochran. He is the reason I will be able to retain a positive image of the Cochran organization. My thanks to Dirk Harper for his assistance and cooperation in resolving this matter.
