I bought my 2019 Pilot from Kirby in June of 2019 and had a great experience then. We have since moved to Alaska and now South Carolina. We had a friend with connections in Elizabeth City, NC and tried to go a great experience then. We have since moved to Alaska and now South Carolina. We had a friend with connections in Elizabeth City, NC and tried to go through them for an Odyssey, but their customer service left something to be desired. I would inquire about vehicles they "had available" on their website, many that were in other states such as PA and MD that they told me they couldn't sell to me. After a month and a half of trying to go through them, I saw they had one on their website that showed it was on the lot in their VA location just across the border. I had communicated from the beginning that I would be willing to travel anywhere to pick one up. When I sent the salesman a message that I would be interested in the one that said on the lot in VA, he told me he had one on the way that he could get me numbers for. The "numbers" were MSRP+$2000 with the discount noted on the worksheet of $2000, to which I did not respond and have yet to receive any follow up communication in the past month to see if I'm still interested or anything. I have also reached out to the salesman that sold my parents their Pilot in 2019 at Honda Morristown in TN and have yet to receive a response from the email I sent a month ago and a dealership in IN where my parents bought an Odyssey in 2006 said they "would keep an eye out for me" and wanted me to come in to discuss numbers. I explained that if I could get numbers ahead of time, I would be happy to come pick up the vehicle, but that's I was 12 hours away and could not come in to just discuss numbers. I let all of the locations know I was looking at a Black or Blue Elite or Touring and they would try to sell me other trims or colors and I felt like I was not being heard. After the 4th dealership, I reached out to Kirby and told her what I was looking for and she came in the next morning, apologized for not responding sooner, but she was off the day before and had numbers to me within 2 hours, saying she could get anything I was looking for. After being willing to settle for whatever came in that matched one of the two colors/trims that I was looking for THAT is the stellar customer service I've had twice with Cleo Bay and why I will never try to go anywhere else again, regardless of where I live. We flew from NC and Kirby kept us updated throughout the entire process of when our van would be available. For us, it was worth the cost of flights, hotels and a 20 hour drive back home with a 3 1/2 year old and 20 month old to have such a great experience. More
Cleo Bay Honda will NOT "make your day"! I recently purchased a certified pre-owned certified Honda from them, and what started off as a fairly smooth transaction soon turned into one of my I recently purchased a certified pre-owned certified Honda from them, and what started off as a fairly smooth transaction soon turned into one of my worst car buying experiences. The whole process felt rushed, as if they were more concerned with closing the sale than ensuring customer satisfaction. I'm fairly confident my salesman was more concerned with his upcoming retirement in October than providing any quality service. For the number of years he's been in the business, I expected him to have more knowledge about the pre-owned certified vehicle and SOME knowledge of selling/financing a vehicle. Whenever I had a question, he seemed to be at a loss and would respond with "let me see who I can ask." Add that to his laissez faire attitude and the whole situation became rather irritating. Also, my salesman never did a walk-around/walk-through of my vehicle with me before I left. Since this was a certified pre-owned, it would have been helpful because we could have further discussed the chip in the windshield. On the test drive, he said "oh yeah, it looks like it's been repaired." Later, I would find out that it had not been repaired and was not noted on the certified inspection. I had to drive back to the dealership (55 miles away from me) to have them repair the chip. Yes, part of this was on me, but I'm also concerned as to why this was not noted on the certified inspection. In general, communication was seriously lacking; there was little to no follow-up, and getting a response to my calls or emails became hopeless, especially with the finance department. On top of that, I have yet to receive a copy of the multiple e-documents I signed with the finance advisor. This has only added unnecessary stress to the process. If you’re looking for a dealership that values customer service, attention to detail and excellent communication, I would highly suggest AVOIDING Cleo Bay Honda. More
