My 2002 Mercedes S 430, passenger side mirror was damaged in 2006 in a car wash in Hopkinsville. The mirror and the motor were replaced with a new one through the insurance company by a BMW and Mercedes shop in 2006 in a car wash in Hopkinsville. The mirror and the motor were replaced with a new one through the insurance company by a BMW and Mercedes shop specialist in Hopkinsville. Last year, the side mirror stopped from going back to position especially when I change the gear from ?Reverse? to ?Drive?. This mirror was rewired with beautiful LED Mercedes blinkers, by an expert in foreign cars in Elkton, several months ago. On March 12, 2011 I called and talked to Brian from PARTS and he took my VIN number and ordered what was needed to fix it. On March 15, 2011 I brought my S 430 Mercedes to your Service Shop to fix it. Chris told me that it cannot be fixed because I have different wiring and it needs the whole box of the mirror to be changed to make it work. I told him to go ahead and order what it needs, if this will fix the problem. So, he ordered what needed and I was told to come back after they receive the new part. On March 22, I brought the car back and a team at the Service to include Brian, Chris, Chad, Tom and another person with long hair decided that it cannot be fixed unless we also change the mirror. Tom was generous to give it to me at the cost price. I asked Tom if this will solve the problem I will order it; and if it does not, then I do not need to spend more money and trips to Bowling Green. I made it clear for him that if it will not work to leave it the way how it is. Tom said ?Of course it will work?. When I reached my home and parked the car in my garage I was surprised that the same mirror stopped from folding. I called and talked to Brian and he said it will be fixed when I come back next week. On March 29 I brought back the car for a ?final trip? to fix the mirror. I brought with me a physician friend who was looking to buy an S 550 Mercedes as well. While waiting for the mirror to be fixed, we both looked at the cars and decided that in September 2011 to buy two of them and go together to Germany and pick them up. After fixing the mirror we went home relieved from the pressure of the mirror and glad we finished with its ordeal On my way home, to my surprise I looked at the message center and find a light sign stating that the passenger side mirror blinker is not working .I called and wanted to talk to someone in the service but already was closed for the day. The next morning I called and wanted to talk to the Service manager or General Manager to complain about my problem. I was fortunate when the telephone receptionist told me that you are there and if I would like to talk to you. It was great when I heard your decision to bring the car back and you staff will fix it. I then called and talked to Chad who told me that you did not know about the real problem and he is the one who makes decisions. We argued for more than 5 minutes and he insisted that I need another part to buy and pay for another service to make the blinkers work. I asked him why they promised that it will work and now I have another problem .and why they did not tell me the blinker now is not working while I was by the Service. And why no one told me that the blinker will not work after we replace the new mirror? Chad still did not answer any of my questions but finally he said he will send a driver to pick it up and try to fix it. I told him if I need to pay for more parts leave it as it is. In same after noon Chris called me and said they cannot do it because they cannot rewire the mirror for free. I explained to him that the blinker was working before and they should not have touched it if they knew that another problem will emerge. He insisted that they fixed my mirror and said ?your car in on its way ?. I thanked him for the efforts he has done and decided to write you this letter hoping you will be fair. Until this moment I am frustrated and I feel the Service never informed me that the blinker will not work if they change the motor, the mirror and the inside box (basically the whole components of the passenger side mirror). This is a copy of the letter that was sent confidential and personal to the owner but unfortunately he never gave me the courtesdy to answer back. Last week I took the car to a mechanic shop and they found out that the wires of the mirror signal wee crossed and that is why the mirror's signal did not work. It cost me 37 dollars comparing with a large amount of money the dealer wanted to charge me to re wirethe mirror and the signal. I was very disapponted and changed my mind in buying a full option S550 Mercedes that cost more that 130,000.00 dollars. More
