It was a good buying experience. No pushing or pressure to buy extra coverage. We liked the way Ralphina took the time to show us the vehicle and how everything worked. When I later restarted the car, suddenly multiple alerts showed up, including dire hybrid malfunction and pre-collision issue warnings, with no associated symptoms. My research showed that a failing 12v battery could cause this, so I got a quick appt. at Ciocca to investigate on the way home to NC. I described the problem and we agreed on doing a battery check first. That check is generally free at most auto parts dealers, but was nearly $50 (!) just for the check and wouldn't even apply to a battery purchase had it been required. It took them about 1.5 hours to perform this simple check, and it showed that the battery was good. Then, without asking about the service history of the car, they quoted me nearly $2,200 for "additional service recommendations," one of which was to run diagnostics on the error codes associated with the original alerts. However, when I declined all that service and started the car, the original alerts had disappeared. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting the battery as part of the test had fixed the problem, as I had hoped based on my research. The 2-star rating is due to the excessive cost and slow performance of the test; the cluelessness of offering all those services as if I should jump on offers of major service when we were clearly packed and the service advisor knew that we still had 8 hours of driving left that day; and the offer to perform a $90 diagnostic service on the warnings after they had disappeared. I do appreciate that they were able to get me an appointment in a timely manner. More
