I took it to Apple Honda to have them check the brakes using their express service. They determined that the type of braking material sometimes gets a little noisy due to the metallic content when they get hot. They assured us the brakes were working fine and the brake pads had plenty of braking material left. They charged a very reasonable diagnostic fee and in the future they suggested using genuine Honda brake pads to eliminate this type of noise in the future.
