Purchase of 2007 Rang Rover Worked with Luis Ortega on this purchase. He was very good to work with and helped me with the various details about the car. My experience was good Worked with Luis Ortega on this purchase. He was very good to work with and helped me with the various details about the car. My experience was good with Luis’s experience a strong plus. He does his best to be honest in the sales process. My advice is to know what you want upfront. This is a high volume used car company. Find the best car for your needs and then work with this company. Do not expect high-touch service. They want to sell you a good car and move on. More
This sales experience is certainly one for the books. The entire Chicago Auto Place, staff and team, was as ill-prepared as any team that I’ve ever delt with. My intent on giving this review isn’t to bash The entire Chicago Auto Place, staff and team, was as ill-prepared as any team that I’ve ever delt with. My intent on giving this review isn’t to bash or undermine their potential to improve, I’m merely just going to state the facts in hopes that they use reviews like these as a tool to recognize they have a mountain to climb in order to be a reputable used car dealership. My experience started with the sales team, Rob. Rob and I came together on trade numbers over the phone. But before any deal was set in place, I expressively and boldly stated that I was not interested in paying any additional fees. Rob assured me no additional fees would be attached to the contract and all dealer service fees were already built into the price of the vehicle Between him and the sales manager, John, I forwarded pictures and all the necessary information of my vehicle that I was looking to trade in as I am 450 miles away from the dealership. I put all my faith in knowing that everything that was discussed about the vehicle I was trading for was as good as their word. Then we discussed about delivery and how the exchange of vehicles would take place since they assured me that they can deliver the purchased vehicle for a small fee. They would arrange shipping of theirs and pick up mine at a desired and convenient location of my choice. Few days later I received the contract and in bold letters, over $1000 in fees were added to the sale price as well as inflated tax and licensing fees. I contacted Chicago Auro Place and went several rounds over the next several days to get all the fees omitted and they assured me they would send out new contract without the fees and corrected taxes. . After receiving the second contract it still listed ‘Dealer Service Fee’ and no adjustments to the taxes. I contacted them again expressing my concern as to why the Dealer Service Fee was still on the contract and why the taxes and licensing was at an inflated cost, after being assured that all dealer service fees was built into the price. No one had an answer. After conversing several days back and forth between Sales and finance they insisted to go ahead and sign the contract and all adjustments would be made and credited to me with confirmation. Never saw any of that and never heard anything back from them. Even after several emails and phone call attempts. Next I received a call from a random shipping company notifying me that they coming to pick up my vehicle. I asked if they were bringing the purchased vehicle on the way duwn to do a simultaneous exchange and they were not aware of bringing the vehicle I purchased. Upon calling Chicago Auto Place back they informed me that could not provide the purchased vehicle to me for several days after picking up mine. I agreed with them and simply informed them that we have to get some things in writing and confirmed in order to let mine go without receiving the purchased vehicle and that’s where all communication ended with them. And I now have a submitted contract to a finance company with a monthly payment of over $700 each month with no vehicle. They don’t answer calls, return calls or return emails. I have called each and every day to Chicago Auto Place and the finance company trying to get the contract retracted but to no avail. most frustrating piece of business I’ve ever been involved in. Worst time Ever This place is a joke .I have bought a few cars online and NEVER had an issue like I have with this company. I purchased a Bentley with these people F This place is a joke .I have bought a few cars online and NEVER had an issue like I have with this company. I purchased a Bentley with these people From day one everything was beautiful I was provided with customer service Michelle who is the represenative continued to stay in touch with me BUT ! Once I signed those papers everything went downhill, I had found out that the car was not in good condition and expected to speak to someone immediately about this situation unfortunately MICHELLE THE representative was NO LONGER receiving my calls they took Three weeks to get back to me a worker with the company told me that there was a problem with my car. There was a scratch on the bumper when I called back to speak with someone in charge I explained what the worker told me and nobody knew that employee nobody knew what was going on they just continued to acknowledge the fact that this car wasn’t in good condition as they said I received the Bentley with no key the only key I had was a spare the spare key cannot open the trunk so I have to go spend $1200 on keys . I had to wait two more weeks for the dealer to make my keys for me to open the trunk once I open the trunk there were parts missing in the trunk that I also have to purchase so in total I spent almost $16-$1700 all stuff that shouldn’t be spent I highly do not recommend this company to anybody once they receive your money you’re no longer cared for I don’t know how these people are still in business I own my own business and that’s not how you treat customers please be aware and be careful because once they get their money you’re no longer important I would never buy another car or recommend anybody to buy from these people. Would you accept this? While on the lot, car would not start, they said that battery was dead..They jumped in, drove it into their garage, and put a "new" battery in it. Whe While on the lot, car would not start, they said that battery was dead..They jumped in, drove it into their garage, and put a "new" battery in it. When we got it home (200+ miles away, Green Bay) it would not start. Green Bay dealer put a new battery in it today, Chicago Auto Place battery was dead. What are the chances that Chicago Auto Place put in a "new" battery, that is what the sales person represented? Car would not heat properly. Took it to a new car dealer in Green Bay where we live, who put in a new thermostat and flushed the system today, $590. Have an appointment Feb 5th with the Green Bay Chrysler dealer for a new heater core, $1,300. No way that we would know that these issues existed. We spent considerable time on the phone and by email with a sales lady at this dealership. We made it crystal clear that we expected the car to be in perfect condition. We also told her that we were not coming to Chicago to inspect the car, if we drove to the dealership we were coming to buy it. She stated that the car met these requirements before we left for Chicago. Bought the car on Jan 17th, today is Jan 22nd.As for questions below, we can not answer until we work through all the issues. We have not contacted Chicago Auto Place re these issues, maybe they will contact us, we will see. More
Horrible Expeirence Purchased a vehicle from the dealership they gave me a 30 day temporary plate which expired and now the car has been sitting for over 10 days. Dealers Purchased a vehicle from the dealership they gave me a 30 day temporary plate which expired and now the car has been sitting for over 10 days. Dealerships communication is absolutely pathetic. As soon as I purchased the vehicle they no longer were interested in me as a customer. Wouldn’t return phone calls or emails only till I began threatening with a lawyer would they respond and even then it was poor response times. The dealership has fed excuse after excuse on why the title work and registration has not been processed. Has told me DMV has paper work ready for me to register and throughout all the countless visits at the DMV nothing has been accomplished the vehicle is still currently unregistered and sitting as I pay insurance and continue to pay my monthly note. They are solely interested in your momey and as soon as they get that they will forget about helping you. They’ve run countless circles saying they are handling all the paperwork and my plates will be comping in the mail to the DMV already having everything for ME to go and register it myself. Absolutely horrible experience. Customer care is least of there concerns along with punctuality. Highly do not recommend anyone wasting their time or business here. More
Decent dealership - just don't buy sight unseen I had a pretty middle-of-the-road experience with Chicago Auto Place. Due to time constraints, I ended up buying the car without visiting it and had it delivered. Other than being a little slow on the communication part of it, that whole process went smoothly. Communication between my purchase and up until the transportation point was extremely lacking. The biggest negative was after it was delivered and I starting driving it, I discovered that the suspension was completely shot. So the great price ended up not being such a great price after putting $2000 into new shocks/struts all the way around. It's a good thing that their prices are as good as they are, or it would have been a complete let down. In addition, upon delivery, one of the tow hook covers was missing from the bumper, which existed in the photos. Their response - "oh, well" So...whether you fly in, or drive in, I'd recommend being able to see and drive the car of your interest first. More

Pleasant sales person, but not a trustworthy business I bought a low mileage (for the year Mazda 6 Wagon flying in fro PA to make pick up the car. I was not told that the headliner was sagging badly ($25 I bought a low mileage (for the year Mazda 6 Wagon flying in fro PA to make pick up the car. I was not told that the headliner was sagging badly ($250 to repair), and the heated drivers seat didn't work ($350 repair). There was damage to the door that was described as "door dings" that was much worse (in fairness it was tough to photograph). 200 miles into my trip home the "check engine light" (CEL) came on. Both catalytic converters are bad ($1000). Clearing the code gets 50-200 miles of driving before it returns, so I strongly suspect the dealer knew about the issue. When I went to install my snow tires I found one of the from lugs was completely cross threaded. i had to use a beaker bar to get the lug not off and pull the hub to replace the ruined stud. the lazy mechanic spun the lugs in with an impact wrench rather than hand starting them like a good mechanic. I was told it had new brakes. Fronts were, rears have frozen slider bolts....not new brakes. When I contacted my sales person i was told the manager would give me a call. It's been a week and no call so I doubt I will hear from them again. It's disappointing, but not surprising since I'm 400+ miles away. I've purchased five cars long distance and have gotten some great cars and met some really honest people. I found neither at this dealership. I did not expect a new car, but paid at the top of the KBB listed value (excellent condition) so I did not expect to have all these issues. If you choose to do business here take the car you are looking at to a good mechanic and if ypu have a BS detector bring it along. More
