This has been months of unimaginable stress and frustration, and I am at my wit’s end. My husband and I purchased a brand-new 2023 Chevy Trailblazer from Chevy of Palatine in October 2023, excited frustration, and I am at my wit’s end. My husband and I purchased a brand-new 2023 Chevy Trailblazer from Chevy of Palatine in October 2023, excited for a reliable family vehicle. Little did we know, our lives would soon be turned upside down by a series of events that have caused us both immense fear and distress. In August 2024, just ten months later, the check engine light came on. We took the vehicle to Chevy of Palatine’s service department, as it was still so new. The service team informed us that the fuel pump needed to be replaced, so they gave us a loaner vehicle and ordered the necessary part. It took a couple of weeks for the replacement to arrive. Once the vehicle was repaired, we picked it up, only for the unimaginable to happen just days later. While driving on the expressway, on our way to pick up our 3-year-old daughter, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. This was the most terrifying moment of our lives. We had no choice but to jump out of the truck and run to safety, then call the fire department to extinguish the flames. In a state of shock, we had the vehicle towed back to Chevy of Palatine and filed a claim with State Farm. In the meantime, we were forced to Uber for two days and rely on a rental car, as we had no other options. When the adjuster from State Farm inspected the vehicle, the dealership admitted fault, acknowledging that GM had sent them a defective part and that my car was still under warranty. They assured State Farm they would take responsibility for the repairs. State Farm then dropped the claim, as it was clear the issue was caused by the dealership’s mistake. I immediately contacted the dealership, expressing my deep concern about the safety of putting my family back in the same vehicle. I told them I no longer wanted the car, as I could not in good conscience risk my children’s lives. The manager I spoke with agreed to help us trade the car in once it was repaired, offering significant discounts due to the trauma and inconvenience we’d endured. However, months later, after the truck was repaired (again), the dealership’s offer was a slap in the face. They insisted the best they could do was a $4k discount on a new vehicle, with the store manager, Brandon V, telling us we should be “grateful” for that. The salesperson, Carlos, even had the nerve to claim that the fire was not their fault, asking us why we were upset, as if the near-death experience we endured didn’t matter. When we explained our concerns about the safety of putting our children back in the same truck, Carlos slid the keys across the desk aggressively, saying, “Well, take your car back then.” We left with no solution, still driving the same vehicle that almost cost us our lives just three months earlier. It is painfully clear that the staff at Chevy of Palatine have no understanding of the severity of what happened to us or any respect for the safety of our children. They showed no empathy, no accountability, and no appreciation for the trauma we’ve experienced. While we will trade in the truck, it will not be with Chevy of Palatine. I would never wish this experience on anyone, and I strongly urge anyone considering doing business with them to think twice. This isn’t just about bad service – it’s about life and death. It could very well cost you your life. More

Buying a car with them was the worst experience I’ve ever had. 1st they refused any kind of credit union check. 2nd when they helped with car insurance they filled out all the information for me to help me g had. 1st they refused any kind of credit union check. 2nd when they helped with car insurance they filled out all the information for me to help me get a “lower” rate, and a week later progressive ended up calling me to do a interview about some of the questions they answered for me, which they lied about, and when I answered them correctly my insurance almost doubled. 3rd and the worst part of my experience is Robert the finance guy, who gave me 50 dollars and told me to buy dinner for myself on him that he took out of the cash I gave him for a down payment. He also told me if I ever needed help paying my monthly payment to call him and he would help me and to think of him as a “sugar daddy”, as I’m crying because this was the first time I was buying a car by myself and my car broke down unexpectedly, so it was a rough couple days for me. He said he likes to take care of girls like me. Now it’s almost 2 years down the road and people for the dealership are hassling me to refinance or get into a new car at a better rate, so I decide to do it. They ding my credit multiple times, no one calls me back, or has a straight answer for me, and it’s been 5 days no call back. I would stay far far away from this place. More

Horrible experience. Felt like we were being scammed. Agreed to buy the Tahoe but not the "extras" (LoJack & Protective covering which added up to over $5K!). The onl Felt like we were being scammed. Agreed to buy the Tahoe but not the "extras" (LoJack & Protective covering which added up to over $5K!). The only way they would remove the "extras" was if we financed through them. We already had our approval in our hand. Easy sale! He said then he couldn't do it. Openly admitted they get a kickback from the bank if we financed through them then we can refinance through our own bank after a couple of months. Warning the price you see online is not the price you will get when you get there and start the process. The details did not include those extras at all. Felt for our salesman who was awesome. The manager was a jerk and just didn't care. Left angry and extremely disappointed. Not a good experience and we will take our $50K and go spend it somewhere else. More

They changed my front brakes and changed out the shifter but the stabiltrak still is coming up as a warning. I came back in for them to check that and my brakes that are still squeaking and they said that they’d have to charge me a new fee if there was something else since they changed the shifter. Then they wanted to charge to clean the brakes off and blamed “whoever did them” will never return.. More
This was one of the worst experiences I have had at this dealership. I brought in a diagnostic test that I had gotten from an auto repair store and stated one of my engine sensors was down. Upon further ins dealership. I brought in a diagnostic test that I had gotten from an auto repair store and stated one of my engine sensors was down. Upon further inspection the service team stated that was a non issue and that I needed a new timing chain. So I held out to get my money right. Brought my car back in this week and told them I was ready to get my timing chain replaced and upon further inspection I was told it was the sensor that I had originally came in to get fixed and that the timing chain was fine. Ok fine let’s get it fixed. I was told it would be completed by EOD Monday. By the end of Monday the website had no update and the service person that was assisting me couldn’t even give me a call to say it would need to stay overnight. But I was patient and called the next morning when you guys first opened. He said they were waiting for a part that came in on Tuesday. Ok fine. He then said we will have it ready by 10 am. By 11 am once again no communication. I had to call myself and was notified that my vehicle was perfect now but I was going to have my engine light on until I got a fuel pump part updated to which I asked the service rep how is my car in perfect condition if it still has the engine light on and I’m going to pay more money to get something else fixed. He said it’s ok. To which I responded it is absolutely not ok. I have spent a lot of money in repairs here in order to maintain a vehicle that I would like for the lifetime of the vehicle. Coming to this dealership has become more of a money trap than a quality cart experience. Here I am with a car that has its engine light on and thus not in perfect condition. He said he would call me when the Chevy tech calls him with information on the next part that needs to be fixed. Once again two days later still waiting for a call about this part. This whole experience was extremely frustrating and as a long time patron of this dealership I’m extremely disappointed in the ability of the team to communicate, assess, and repair my vehicle. I expect a call from a service manager because this whole experience was totally unacceptable and I fully anticipate taking my business elsewhere. First inaccurate diagnosis followed up by lack of communication leading to myself being without a vehicle for 30 hours tag teamed with being told my vehicle is in “perfect condition now” when it clearly not is a terrible misrepresentation of what I believe your teams goal of quality service. Disappointing. More
Just bought a car this Saturday. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Except the car salesperson Alex who showed us a car, all other people just scammers and liars over the phone. D If I could give them 0 stars I would. Except the car salesperson Alex who showed us a car, all other people just scammers and liars over the phone. Don’t go there at least if you want your total will change 5 times through the paperwork. They treat people like idiots. Please be aware and go to different dealership. SCAMERS and LIARS and the most disrespectful to women I’ve ever seen. More
