I initially went in to Checkered Flag Hyundai because it was convenient to where I live. I was immediately greeted by Duman. He is very well informed about the products offered by the dealership and knows about the locals because he and his family have lived in the area for a long time. I didn't buy a car on the first visit. I went back three months later after the car I had was declared a total loss by the insurance company after Hurricane Irene. Duman remembered me, not just my name but real details about the first visit. Instead of just selling me a car, Duman helped me buy the car I wanted. He made sure I understood how my car's features worked and introduced me to the sales and business managers. He made sure I was comfortable while he had my car prepped to go. I went to the dealer expecting to spend the entire afternoon. Surprisingly, I was finished in about 90 minutes. I know that salesmen see a lot of people over several months. Duman made me feel as though I was being taken care of. I had the feeling that Duman treats all of his customers like they are a good friend. He didn't try to force a deal, no pressure. When he told me about additional services offered by the dealership it was an offer and not a hardsell. Once I declined a service, he didn't try to push it on me. Overall I give Checkered Flag Hyundai two thumbs up, and rate Duman a 15 on a scale of 1 -10. Thank you Duman. You made a stressful time much less stressful. Linda Carter More

I was very disappointed in the interest rate I received. I have excellent credit and was told several times by Derek that he would get me a good interest rate and I ended up with 4.9 through BB&T. I had my last car through Chase, plus a VISA with Chase and my mortgage with Chase and said I would be interested in the rate Chase would give. I also told Derek I could apply with my credit union for a 2.9% interest rate before the end of August and was assured he would get me a good interest rate. This is the only thing I am dissatisfied with. He should have let me get my own and not promised something he wouldn't provide. This is not a good business practice. I could have said STOP and let me get my own but I wanted my car and was never told the interest rate until I asked at the last minute after the papers were signed. More

Contacted all dealerships in the Hampton Roads area through their website and one dealership in Richmond that participates in the Costco Automobile program; 2. Checkered Flag was the only dealership in this area that replied quickly with the specific vehicle information that I requested and asked if I would be interested in stopping by at a time that fit my busy schedule. The other dealerships either started calling me many times on the phone or bombarding my email with, "What time can you come in today". Not, we have what you are looking for or we have that car coming in soon. I felt as though the other dealerships in the area just wanted to sell me any car they had on the lot, instead of the car I was looking for during my search. 3. A time was setup that fit my schedule and I was treated at the door by Barbara Collins, who turned out to be the best sales person who has ever helped me in my many years of buying vehicles. 4. Barbara was not pushy, just informative and helpful. I gave her a few specifics on the car I was looking for and she took care of the rest. Now I am driving the exact car I wanted and Barbara has contacted me not only to say thank you, but to see if I had any questions or need anything else. Than you Barbara and Checkered Flag for the GREAT experience, car, and working around my hectic schedule. I am sure that I will be pleased when I schedule regular service visits. More
We had a very positive experienice at this dealership, particulary with our sales person, Lamont Williams. There were no "surprises" -- with the final cost, condition of the car, or date of delivery. Mr. Williams kept us up to date on the process all along the way. The only negative was that we were required to purchase a special package that came with the car -- options of $100 or so that we would not have thought to add. However, the car (Hyundai Elantra) is very popular, the dealer offered it at the best price locally, and we were happy to get it in less than a week. The sale was conducted quickly and efficiently, and we were treated very profesionally. Highly recommend this dealer! More
