I went in to purchase a new 2012 VW Jetta. The sales person Travis was amazing but the rest of my experience with the dealership has been horrible. Before the car got to the dealer I had questions regarding my payment options, I left 4 voicemails and after never receiving a call back I went into the dealership. I got the answer I was looking for but the staff was less then pleased to answer my questions. When the car finally arrived I was told the vehicle had 5 miles on it and instead it had 245. I knew that the vehicle was being delivered to the dealership from somewhere else but wasn't informed that it was going to be driven. Now I have a new car that I can only hope the driver did what they were supposed to do in breaking in the clutch, engine and brakes. After the issues with the mileage and wrong address listed on the registration I was informed that the dealership had taken an extra $500.00 dollars from my account. When I saw the debit from the dealership it was for over $1,000.00, again I left voicemails with no returned calls. I went into the dealership and after about an hour I was informed that the financing for my extended warranty was different from what was explained to me and that was the reason behind the extra money. I will be getting my money credited back but of course it will be in 5-7 days. It truly seems to me that the dealership doesn't really car about its customers and the staff is fully willing to blame everyone else for the mistakes. We will be purchasing our next VW from another dealer. More

James was great at helping me find the car I wanted. The dealership also had the most reasonable prices out of all the VW dealerships in the Virginia Beach and Newport News area. I had been looking for a new Hyundai car for several months. I went to the main Hyundai dealerships in our area. I decided to go back to Checkered Flag because I preferred the great customer service I received from the No Pressure and very knowledgeable sales consultant I had spoken to on a previous visit. Her name is Barbara Collins. After several visits and a lot of patience from Barbara,due to me changing my mind, after thinking I had found my new car. She found me the perfect car. This was my first new car purchase. As I tried to find the right vehicle for me, I visited this dealership on three separate occasions. It was the first dealership I visited, and the car I ended up buying the right vehicle for me, I visited this dealership on three separate occasions. It was the first dealership I visited, and the car I ended up buying was the first vehicle I drove at this dealership. On the first visit, associate Stan Anders familiarized me with the car on my first test drive, and not only answered all the questions I asked but provided lots of extra information on the vehicle and others they had at the dealership. This answered questions I would not thought to have asked being a first time buyer. I did not purchase thad day, as this was the only car I'd driven so far and the only dealer I'd visited. However, the whole experience - both car and staff - struck me as far too comfortable and easy. Before the second visit, I had drove several other cars at two other dealerships without having a similarly comfortable experience - something about the Checkered Flag VW dealership staff and the vehicles just seemed to fit me. I called the dealership back as asked to drive a few more models, including a manual transmission model of the same car I had driven with Stan. On my second visit, Jim Hanrahan took me on several test drives, showing me the manual transmission and the "sport" mode and manual mode functions on the automatic transmission designed to enhance the driver's experience. The quality of his interaction with me was an even better fit than me and Stan, and Jim was the associate that lead me to the ultimate end of the transaction, the lease of my new vehicle. He not only offered information much in the same way Stan did, but he also provided the type of "if, then" statements that helped me wrap my head on the different decisions I was making (i.e. new vs. used, lease vs. purchase, manual vs. automatic). His style fit so well with my decision making process, and he spent a great deal of time explaining all my options and sometimes reiterating explanations when my head got too full. Jim was instrumental in helping me decide on the VW Golf that I leased in the end. On my third visit in which all the paperwork was completed, Jim picked me up from the airport where I had dropped off my rental vehicle after a nasty experience with the rental car agency. I was extremely relieved that he was able to do this, as I was pretty distraught over the event of that morning and the previous day. The entire staff that day provided me with service in glaring contrast to my experience with the rental car agency's customer service, and made me feel very comfortable. As an active duty member of the military, I also had some pretty specific problems related to PCS moves, insurance, registration, etc. Jim was also instrumental in helping answer all these military-specific questions and resolving paperwork issues in a timely manner, being a prior service member himself. I couldn't be more pleased with my vehicle or the service I received from Jim and the entire staff of Checkered Flag VW. Jim also reiterated his personal commitment to continued service to me should I have questions or problems with the vehicle, and reminded me that my relationship with the dealership did not end when I walked out with keys. While I don't wish for issues with the car that bring me into the dealership, I can drive easy knowing the team is there to support me in the future as well. More
