I went to the tent sale at Oceana Naval base and bought a 2010 Honda CRV. We were given the keys to take for a test drive. It was a beautiful day and so we had the windows down, my husband was checking all 2010 Honda CRV. We were given the keys to take for a test drive. It was a beautiful day and so we had the windows down, my husband was checking all the extras in the vehicle (radio, sunroof, ac, heat, etc.). All was well. We got back to their site and we still wanted to look around since the car I had found online at their website was what I had my heart set on. We were offered to carry around the keys with me so that it couldn't be sold from under my feet. I did find another CRV like the one that I had my heart set on at Priority but I went back to the Checkered Flag site and made my offer & told about the other offers given to me by Priority. The price of the car I bought was more than the one at Priority even though that one had more bells and whistles. What sold me on this car was the friendliness of the salesman and his salesmanager Robert Chen. Once everything was finalized and we were on our way home, the weather had turned cold and we road home with the windows closed. When the car warmed up and I reached a speed of 45 mph, I started hearing a noise much like the bass on a radio booming. The noise bothered me and made my ears hurt. My husband had a hard time hearing it but eventually heard it as well and we began to look for the problem the next day. When we couldn't fix the problem, I called Carl and told him I wanted to bring the car back (thinking I had 3 days to cancel my contract..which I later learned that wasn't the case with cars). He told me to bring the car back in on Monday since they were still at the tent sale and they would take care of the problem...they would make it right. So I took the car in on Monday and the mechanic looked over the car & couldn't duplicate the noise. I had to take him out on a drive to point out the noise to him. He had told me that it would be hard to pinpoint. After a while, my husband came back to the dealership and the mechanic came back out for another drive since he wasn't able to pickup the noise while he drove. Again, I pointed it out and we all determined it happened at the 45mph/1.5rpm range. As we were driving my husband mentioned that he thought it was coming from the exhaust. The mechanic then realized that it was the exhaust and said that he could not fix that. I went back into the office and was referred to Rich another salesmanager. He said that he would be willing to trade the car back in and give us the amount we bought the car for as credit towards another car. We agreed to return the next day to try out other cars when Carl was back in the office. There were only new CRV's on the lot at this time, so I test drove one of those and I loved it! There was no noise coming from this car and the price was very close to what I had paid for the used car. Carl and Rich made the process so easy. My problems we solved and I felt so good about the experience. My husband and I kept saying that they were so nice to work with....more so than the people we have dealt with at Priority with our other cars. I would definitely refer anyone to this dealership! Such wonderful people!! I don't think that another dealership would have been so nice and caring about trying to please me as these people did. I was really thinking that I was going to run into a real mess when taking the car back into them. Everyone was wonderful from the moment that I stepped into the service center to leaving with the new car. Ten stars from me!!! More

We researched cars for two months and everything pointed to Honda - reliability, safety, comfort and cost. The clincher was a recent review by Consumer Reports on the Civic - we had been looking seriously a to Honda - reliability, safety, comfort and cost. The CR article also stated the approximate costs of the Civic along with all the improvements made to the Civic over the previous year's model. We contacted three dealerships by email asking for best prices - we live on the Outer Banks with the nearest Honda dealership approximately 60 miles away so we wanted to eliminate as much travel time possible. Checkered Flag offered the best price for the Civic and told us all other costs involved. We took the trip to Norfolk - around 90 miles. We were ready to purchase the car if all costs quoted remained the same. We were greeted at the door by Al Flores and introduced to the Sales Manager Chad Frick. We were pleasantly surprised that all terms of the sale remained as quoted, there was no attempt to upsell or change what had been discussed by email. We were presented with the papers and an offer for our car as a trade-in that was quite generous. We signed and headed home from Checkered Flag impressed by the integrity and professionalism of everyone we met there. This was the best car-buying experience we have encountered in over 40 years of buying cars. More

My husband and I shopped around looking for a good deal and to not exceed our budget. Sadly, the first few dealerships were unprofessional and would basically laugh at us because our budget was unrealisti and to not exceed our budget. They just seemed very greedy. We almost felt it was impossible until we went to Checkered Flag Honda! We were instantly greeted with smiling faces and I just felt really good vibes from everyone. Carl was great and the GM, Mr. Robert Chen, was amazing!!!! For once I felt like we were customers that he really wanted to help and take care of. No dealership put in nearly a quarter of the effort Mr. Chen did for us...not only did he crunch numbers with all of our bills, but was able to be put us in a better financial situation with the purchase of 2 new vehicles. I was speechless and honestly did not believe him until i sat down in another room to crunch the numbers myself. He made our budget possible! Basically he was a magician! I couldn't contain myself to tell everyone to come to Checkered Flag Honda for their next vehicle! For once I felt comfortable leaving car dealership knowing that I made a 100% right decision going to Checkered Flag Honda! We love our new CR-V and civic! Lifetime customers! :D More
