PURCHASE EXPERIENCE: I had a 5pm appointment at a different Honda dealership in the area where I fully intended to purchase a vehicle. I had a check from my bank with 1.79% interest... but their lack of knowledge and professionalism was so bad that they convinced me not to buy a car from them. We arrived at the Checkered Flag dealership in Norfolk VA around 8pm just to take a quick look after wasting two and a half hours at another Honda dealership down the street I was pretty much over vehicle shopping for the day, but figured since we were in the area I would stop and look. Al Flores was standing outside when we arrived with a smile on his face. He greeted us immediately and asked how he could help us. I had been told to ask for Chad, so Al invited us in and offered us some Starbucks coffee while we waited...always a nice touch. Less than 2 minutes later, Al came back out and introduced us to Chad one of the Sales Managers. Chad was pleasant and told us that Al would be talking care of us and to let us know if we needed anything. Al immediately reassured me that he would take great care of me and started asking what vehicle I was interested in, make, color, etc. Al's demeanor is warm and friendly and he genuinely seemed like a nice guy. He even made us laugh which helped relieve my irritation from the other dealership. I was debating between a 2013 Honda Accord EX up to the EXL with navigation. Al checked his inventory and we stepped outside. The third car over on the lot was my top of the line pick... 2013 Accord EXL with navigation. Al opened the car and started explaining the features. The car was beautiful (besides the bird poop on the front) everything about it was the car I wanted. Al was able to answer ALL questions about the vehicle including questions that the salesperson from the last dealership was not able to answer. Once we had looked over the vehicle he asked if I wanted to take it for a test drive. I was hesitant because I was still irritated from my other experience and had made up my mind to wait another week to buy a vehicle but I agreed to test drive it because Al was so pleasant. We got on the road and Al continued to make us laugh, explain features of the vehicle and support my initial thought that he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. Once we made it back to the dealership he asked if we wanted to look at some other vehicles or if that was the car for me. Again, that was my top pick, color and all so I said.... that's the car for me, if the price is right! We did some negotiating and came up with a more than fair price on the vehicle. Chad the manager of course was involved in that process and his service too was top notch (and the fact that he's a fellow ODU grad doesn't hurt). I am more than confident I got a great deal on my new car, and just as important as the price, Al's service is an experience I will never forget. Throughout the entire Sales process Al was funny, courteous, persuasive but not pushy, and knowledgeable about the vehicle. THE LITTLE THINGS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE! Once we settled on price, and spent another 45 minutes finalizing paperwork, warranty and financing, it was late. We were all tired, but when we stepped out of the finance office around 10:45pm there was Al...standing like a knight in shining armor! Now yes, that is his job, but he had a smile on his face, not once did he complain, and little did I know he wasn't finished yet! He walked me to my trade in vehicle to help me empty it out. Then we went to my new car where he set my seat memory for me and showed me the overall functions of the vehicle again. He asked if we had any questions. I said no because I was tired and ready to get home...by this time its 11pm on a Thursday night. My father asked about how to change the Navigation settings, etc. Al was able to update the navigation for me, and he still wanted to make sure we didn't have any other questions because he genuinely cares about his customers. I was bringing the car back in a couple days to be detailed since it was so late at night. It was time for me to leave and I was overjoyed with the entire experience with purchasing my new vehicle. Al told me to hang on just another minute and went inside. When he came back out, he had a napkin which he used to get the bird poop off the car. He said he didn't want me riding around with it. Now imagine that... 11pm on a Thursday night (dealership closed at 9pm), the car is sold and getting detailed in a couple days, and this man just cleaned bird poop off for me. That is not just a sales person... he is a master of customer service too! I could not have asked for more. I was blow away by Al Flores! When I brought my car back for my detailing appointment, there was Al. Now I'm thinking does this man ever sleep?! He again asked me if I needed anything, how I liked the car, etc. Overall he wanted to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. He made sure I received a rental car and once my car was finished and I went to pick it up that evening, there was Al! I swear he is everywhere! He came and looked over the car with me and I noticed a small spot where a sticker had been and there was a faint amount of glue still left on the glass. Al went inside, and yet again, he cleaned my car off. He literally treated my car as if it was his own. Overall this car buying experience was so much more than I could have asked for. Checkered Flag is doing something right with the selection of their sales staff! THANK YOU AL FLORES for being an exceptional person all the way around! I will refer everyone I know and I can only hope to do business with you again! More

I would highly recommend going in to see Eric Rogers if you are in the market for a new Honda. We didn't enjoy the car shopping experience when going to other dealers and the games they tried to play with you are in the market for a new Honda. As soon as we pulled into the lot, a salesman was coming towards our car already. I thought to myself, "Oh no, here we go again." But I couldn't have been more wrong. The salesman, Paul Sudo, could not have been more professional. He provided us with a thorough walkthrough of the CR-V models, and answered every question completely and without hesitation. He did not once pressure us to buy or try to sell us on extra services or features we did not need. The other folks, including the finance guy, were also very helpful and not pushy whatsoever. All in all it was a fantastic experience, and we are very happy with our purchase. More
