I was so pleased with the team at Chapman Ford. I'm not always comfortable in "sales" situations and felt totally comfortable here. All of my questions were answered but I didn't feel crowded or pushed. I did my research ahead of time and after making a few stops I knew this was where I wanted to buy my SUV. I left with my new Explorer and a great deal. I truly felt like I could trust the sales team here and stand by my recommendation of Chapman Ford! More

I found a great deal online for a car at Chapman Ford on Manheim Pike. More specifically a Chevrolet Impala, It had a list price of $3987. I had $3900 in my hands. Chapman Ford was my 3rd stop, out of t Manheim Pike. More specifically a Chevrolet Impala, It had a list price of $3987. I had $3900 in my hands. Chapman Ford was my 3rd stop, out of the way mind you, for the one car. I spoke with a man named John Meshey. I play stupid and ask what they have in the 3-5 thousand range and the first thing he shows me is a Chevrolet Impala. It has to be the same one but when I walk around to the front the sticker price is sitting at $4,995. Maybe it isn't the same one I thought, I'll have to check the VIN, my phone's battery depletes the last little bar and I don't get the the VIN in time. At this time, I test drive it and we come back and he starts drawing up paper work. We, a friend of mine and I, start talking money with him and he pushes hard on how much of a great deal I am getting. He then proceeds to walk over to his "manager" because he is going to see if he can get him to "sweeten the deal for me." He returns and has a warm smile on his face and explains to me that, "Since you were in an accident and need some help we're willing to really cut you a good deal. We're going to give it to you for this much(writes $4,500 on the paper) and that'll cover all of your fees, taxes, and title. This is an excellent deal as this car is worth well over $6,000 dollars." I inform him that I know that the car in question is valued at 3,900(dealer) to 4,900(private) on kelly bluebook and decline his offer. I am still not sure if it is the same car or not so I inform him that I am not actually holding any money on me and that I was just here to check the car out, I never said I wanted to buy it so I am still not sure why he started doing the paper work. He says something along the lines of, " I am not sure what you're doing here if you don't have any money to put down on it." I explain to him that I have been in an accident so the insurance company told me that I have to find a car, tell them, they send me a check, pick my car up, and then I can buy the car and that I was still waiting on the check, even though I had the amount of money the insurance company is giving me in cash on me. He tells me he will get his manager to see what they can do for me. A younger guy sits down and informs me about financing, cash payments, and offers to hold the car if I can put some money down on it. I tell him I am not willing to put money down on it at such a high price and ask if they have any room for negotiation. He declines and urges me to sleep on it, they closed in about 45 minutes. He didn't say, "we are about to close," but I got the point. I came home and realized I forgot to grab the VIN #, so I call back and the secretary cinforms me he is with a customer and she will send me to John Meshey's voice mail. I leave 2 messages asking him to call me back before closing with the VIN number so I can run a carfax report on it. I call a total of 7 times. No call back I decide not to wait and take the 30 minute drive over to the closed dealership at 10:30 and jot down the VIN myself. I come home and confirm that it is the same one as what is listed on the internet, with a different price! I am livid at this point. I could have drove that car off the lot that night. I also check the carfax and find that it had 2 previous owners, not 1. A rental company and a private owner. The next morning at 9 am, I get 5 phone calls within 2 minutes(I was in the shower at the time,) with 1 voice mail. It was John Meshey telling me that, "The carfax is clean, I just looked it up, It has a clean record with one owner, come down and get it, this thing is HOT on our internet page." That is about the 5th time he told me it has only had ONE owner. I cannot tell you how angry I was. It was HOT because you're selling it for 1,000 dollars less on the internet than what you just tried to sell to me. I call back for over an hour with the secretary continuously telling me that he is with a customer and that she can send me to his voice mail. I leave a number of messages with no call back. I finally get a ride over there, because my car has been totaled and I ask about the car and the man behind the next smiles and said that someone has already bought it and makes a comment about how it happens all of the time. That should have been my car and I hope whoever bought it didn't get ripped off on the price like they were trying to get me. I wouldn't be surprised if they still have it and will just take the listing down and put it back out on the lot for the extra $1,000. I don't suggest this place to anyone. More
